The stock 300HP number is at the crank...on an engine dyno....
I doubt you pulled your motor to test it. Most estimates like this are extrapulated from power levels measured at the wheels. This is then compared to the stock numbers for a best guess at the losses. Tune a car, then work the numbers backwards to get a ballpark at what the crank is putting out. I don't like it either but buyer beware.
