So why would you even bring another shop into this? Its only going to cause controversy.....think before you speak/type.....

Go into Ray Sti's journal.....he talks about how the exhaust was extremely restrictive and caused issues tuning and because of the exhaust it was robbing the car of 60-70hp or something around that.....he said the same thing happened to a friend of his and he switched exhausts and made 400/400 so there ya go.....

Oh ya.....the SPT catback will probably give you the same issues as Ray STI

A hi-flow cat wont hurt your performance....not anything to be worried about....youll have less exhaust stink....maybe only like 200-300 rpm slower spool for full boost and the car will perform better cruising around with no boost.....remember, before you have boost your car is a NA 2.5 motor....NA's like a little backpressure

I want to let you know that Im not bashing you guys at all. Im sure you did what you could with the guy's setup and could have made just as much power with the automaster car im referring to, I was just wondering what was holding this guy back so much. Shouldn't a gt52 should EASILY put down 350-375whp on your dyno on a 93oct tune? Granted the automaster tune was on a meth setup but I dont think that alone accounts for a 100+whp difference especially when their dyno reads significantly lower than yours. The reason Im so curious is because I'm almost done with my GT52 setup and want to make sure I dont end up like this guy...20g or less power with a 52lb wheel.

here's my mod list if you care to look at it and let me know if something I've got is going to hold me back. Just so you know this is all going on in the spring so any advice you have that can help me finalize my setup would be great. I still need items in bold. The rest is on my bedroom floor if not already on the car

Im concerned about the SPT cat back and Catted DP.....should I be? Thanks

Chris doesn't Tune UTEC. i happily made the switch from UTEC to accessport to get tuned by him. and numbers doesnt mean jack...its all about how the car drives. hell, there is some stage 2 STi's making more wtq compared to my FP green (then again i have a restricted exhaust and it was hot as balls out) but they arent about to run my setup.

Well, the car you mention being tuned by Automaster has a couple differences.

1 - Front Mount Intercooler
2 - METH INJECTION
3 - 25psi

Ray's car was tuned to 19 with a taper to 17, due to the TMIC getting heat soaked.

The biggest thing here is not the numbers, it's overall performance. Another big thing, is that Automaster is making the posts themself, I let my customers do the talking for me. I don;t have anything to hide, if the car makes low numbers, it makes low numbers. I always give the customer the best tune I can for the mods they have. I will not push a car to it's mechanical limits just so they can get their dyno sheets and brag to the community about how much power they made.

If you want a dyno queen, go somewhere else, if you want a safe, reliable tune, I'll gladly help you out.

Amen to that Chris.

So when's the next TX visit? I really don't feel like having to make a 4k round trip just for a tune!

I need to stop being lazy and get up there for a tune.

Chris do you travel, if I was to setup a group of people to do a dyno day here in NJ?

Don't compare XX to AMR, thats very silly.

You guys dont understand I wasn't comparing the two tuners at all. I was comparing the two CARS and wanted to know why one car was making a ridiculous amount more power than the other.

Next time I go there for an oil change I will talk to them and ask them about using it/etc etc. It might be a few weeks, I know your prolly busy anyway so I will def touch base with you once I iron out the details on my end.

This is why I go to XX. I just got tuned there a second time and couldn't be happier. They do a great job, and I feel my car has a safe tune that I feel comfortable romping on. Thanks again chris.

props to chris tuned my car a total of 3 times now lol..... dont think im going to change anymore parts on it for awhile now... prob could use bigger injectors tho.. one thing i found out recently was that my perrin turbo inlet was hooked up wrong when i had the car tuned. doubt that will make a big difference tho... i was very happy with the tune just wish the car could have help more boost and higher in the rpm's. also sucks that the tq spikes and 4200 rpm then just dumps on its face.....
