That's basically what Mike told me when I brought my Legacy in the other week (except that I get to keep my intake - K&N Typhoon). To make it more challenging, I'm going to put in a TD06H-18G, AVO fuel pump, and Nismo 740cc injectors in a couple weeks so that he has to ProTune it.

I will never understand why a tuner wont tune for what you have? Why did you have to put the stock airbox back on? A simple tune could have adjusted for the CAI... Oh well guess everyone is different.....

Well its not that he couldnt tune it, he was just saying that it would cost the $195 to ProTune it and why waste the money when you could just put the stock airbox back to get the same results or actually a little better. My torque on the base run was around 274@4000rpm. He said that I lost a little torque because of the intake due to the readings from the MAF and it was running lean, so If I was to put the stock airbox back the torque would jump to around 285@4000rpm and the leaning would stop. He said that I should get it ProTuned if I were to go bigger turbo or if I go front mount intercooler and that it would be worth the wait to spend the money at that time. I think he was just being honest and you dont really get alot of honest guys out there. Most shops try to make money off of you no matter what. I really appreciate his honesty and I will go back for all my needs.

Mike doesn't say he won't ProTune the car, but rather that the cost/benefit of doing so may not yield a rate of return that's worthwhile (but everyone is different). If you tell him to ProTune after his suggestion(s), he'll take your money and get to work.

However, If zeroGsti sells his intake for >$75 he'll have the net gain of more torque, the cost of the baseline runs covered, and possibly more money in his pocket. Sounds like a good deal to me.

EXACTLY!! But I am going to keep the intake because it can be a short ram intake also. I'm most likely to go front mount intercooler and bigger turbo. At that time I'm sure i'll get it Protuned by Mike.

Mike @ gruppe-s didn't want to tune it because the healty number the OP's car is putting down. For people who have no idea about dyno readings, the Gruppe-S' mustang dyno is one of the lowest reading dyno in the country. 274whp on gruppe-s' dyno can easily be over 300+whp on a dyno jet in the same area. A protune might not add must of difference.
