| Junior STI Driver | Ed at EQ Tuning (www.eqtuning.com) tuned my STi with AP/ProTuner, and it is very smooth and powerful. My '04 STi only has a 70mm Tanabe catback, a JDM STi cotton panel airfilter, and the GM Typhoon boost solenoid, and I'm putting down 255hp and 265tq at the wheels, and boost comes on quick and strong, I'm only hitting a maximum of 15lbs boost, and its as smooth as silk. Ed is a true professional, he believes in smooth, safe tunes that produce high amounts of HP and Torque. I couldn't be happier with my tune! David This ad is not endorsed by this member. | Lurker | Ed uses custom road tune maps on the backroads of Davis, California with pulls in sti's in the top of 4th gear close to 100 mph. So in other words his business practices are unsafe I honestly would not reccomend using his services and to stick with a shop that has an actual dyno. Ed may set his prices lower than shops but it is not worth the risk of endangering your life and your car just to get a cheaper tune. Gruppe-s in the Bay area or S-squared in Sacramento are two shops that have in house dyno's in Northern California and are both cobb and ecutek tuners You want to see some of the discussions about EQ head over to I-club and do a search for "EQ" |

IWSTI Addict since: Nov 2005 Trader Rating: (1) | So my friend Shawn hooked me up with his buddy Ed from EQ tuning to get my car tuned.. I hurried and bought K&N Typhoon, installed it the day before protune, and went protuning. We met up at Ann Arbor. Ed from EQ Tuning came from California and had tremendous amount of knowledge and seemed to know what he was working with. We had a few issues (mechanical) that delayed the tuning process, but we finally got everything to work. It was street tuning, similar to gruppe-s street tuner... we did pulls on the highway (at 3-4AM) and Ed worked his magic... and all i can say is WOW. Car hit full boost around 28k rpm @ 4th running a lil over 20psi top. The just kept pulling and pulling like no other! We did some 1st gear - 5th gear pulls and... wow... it just blew my mind.... We had 4 people in the car; about 600lbs passenger total weight. It still pulled crazy and on the last pull, Ed in the passenger seat told me "I know when it's tuned right when we do a pull and the airbag light turns off from me coming off the seat!" He showed me some dynographs and I was around 330+whp/370+wtq on 93 octane pump gas. It was 20 degrees out and windy. Stock sti's run around 260+whp/260+wtq, so that was amazing. I am very satisfied and on the way home driving alone was a blast. I'll have to talk to ed if he has some dynographs on his log so I'll post them when i get them.
