The protune is well worth it and Dan is an excellent guy to work with.

The guy I will be using up in Boulder charges $375 for this (2 hours of dyno time.)
He just did a catted (I'm catless) Stage 2 2005 STi and was able to squeeze out 21 more peak HP and up to 39 more ft lbs in some ares of the curve! I guess the curve came out real nice and flat.

He said the car was a different car after this. This is my setup and 39 ft lbs more in some areas sounds REAL good to me and the $$ is right too. It'll be a couple weeks and I'll post the plots.

I also got a protune at harman and saw a big gain from protune. With my mods I maid 291 whp and 316 ftq on 91, with 95 octain I got 320 whp and 364 ftq.

you know, up until now i had pretty much settled on waiting, but with those kind of numbers, i will have to start rethinking it...

how are the other (than HP) gains? does it feel smoother.

i have a CAI and this was my primary concern, will the protune help fix my lean-ness?

I can't say enough about how thoroughly pleased I am with Dan's work on my car. He did all the ProTuning on my AP, and I am beyond pleased with it.

What are those two humps in your torque curve at 4400 and 5100 in your 100 octane map?

Absolutely - go buy a catted DP and get it done. You'll love it.

ordered both the catted DP and the AP at the same time. just waiting for the parts to come in. technically im still waiting for my car to get out of the shop...i crashed it 5 weeks ago and am still waiting for them to finish. i got myself a bunch of upgrades to make the bad expierence a positive one. after i pay my deductible and the additional cost of upgrading my rims, i'll get down to harman.

thanks everyone.

Thumbs up Protuned by Harman 293whp 333tq

Late last year I upgraded to Cobb stage II using the CAL 91 OTS HWG map and was truly impressed. After researching the benefits of custom tuning I made an appointment with “Dan the man” at HarmanMotive. Before my appointment he spoke with me on the phone to understand cars setup and what my overall goals were.

The car had been serviced the day before because I knew it was going to get pounded. While Dan prepared the “baby” on the dyno, he was happy to answer all my newbie questions as this was my first experience getting tuned. Dan why do they call it a rotated turbo? Blah…blah..

So the tuning began, 4th gear pulls getting the baseline, dialing 91octane, and finally a 95 octane map for the track. I’m comfortable with the boost remaining @ 17.5 tapering to 14.75 by redline.

Once the dyno session was finished we ran some 4th gear pulls on the road. Dan monitored the data on his laptop while connected to the OBDII port watching for any issues. Back at the shop I got printouts of the plots, my AP maps organized, and a huge smile on my face. My appointment ended around 1:30pm so there was no traffic southbound on the 405. Talk about being spoiled with 95 octane in the tank!!

In terms of power the car is hardcore and smooth through the power-band. I couldn’t imagine what it’s like with an upgraded turbo and other engine enhancements (must be gnarly). I can’t wait for the next open track day at Buttonwillow next month, it’s going to be a blast.

Overall the experience was really positive and exciting. Based on Dan’s attention to detail and professionalism I’d use the service again. There was even wireless internet access so I worked remotely not needing to take single hour off!

I had my car Protuned there. Good tune and no problems.

Cobb stg 2 STi Protuned by HM Results

They billed me to remove the TMIC to get at the stubborn o2 sensor bung. Wish I brought my own tools to do that!
