Default harman motive accessport protune

do you guys think this is worth it?
i just bought an accessport, and i see that harman motive offers a protune for $499 to optimize your individual cars setup. checked out their site, and it seems like i could benefit from it, but thats just too much, a total of $1000 to gain (possibly more 10hp than AP alone).

it sounds like it will make it much smoother and they will organize the accessport as well.

what do you guys think, or even better, has anyone done this and can vouch for whether it is worth it?

thanks in advance

tuners in my area (XXtuning, Automasters) charge $300 for the initail tune/map, then only $150 each tune/map after that.

the most gain i have seen on here for a protune over the AP stg2 OTS map is ~20whp, but as you said, they also mentioned a much better curve, throttle response, and extremly smoother ride. i cant see how it could get any smoother than the OTS maps, they are hella smooth.. hope this answers your question

the longer i think about it, the more i think it will not happen until i get used to the AP. it's always something i can do later, so i think i will wait to see how the OTS maps perform.

on a side note, i am at a stage 2, so having the base map be stage 2 should be ok, or does anyone recommend stage 1 base, with stage 2 realtime?

The protune is well worth it and Dan is an excellent guy to work with.

The guy I will be using up in Boulder charges $375 for this (2 hours of dyno time.)
He just did a catted (I'm catless) Stage 2 2005 STi and was able to squeeze out 21 more peak HP and up to 39 more ft lbs in some ares of the curve! I guess the curve came out real nice and flat.

He said the car was a different car after this. This is my setup and 39 ft lbs more in some areas sounds REAL good to me and the $$ is right too. It'll be a couple weeks and I'll post the plots.

you know, up until now i had pretty much settled on waiting, but with those kind of numbers, i will have to start rethinking it...

how are the other (than HP) gains? does it feel smoother.

i have a CAI and this was my primary concern, will the protune help fix my lean-ness?

I can't say enough about how thoroughly pleased I am with Dan's work on my car. He did all the ProTuning on my AP, and I am beyond pleased with it.

What are those two humps in your torque curve at 4400 and 5100 in your 100 octane map?

Absolutely - go buy a catted DP and get it done. You'll love it.

ordered both the catted DP and the AP at the same time. just waiting for the parts to come in. technically im still waiting for my car to get out of the shop...i crashed it 5 weeks ago and am still waiting for them to finish. i got myself a bunch of upgrades to make the bad expierence a positive one. after i pay my deductible and the additional cost of upgrading my rims, i'll get down to harman.

thanks everyone.
