Default Jorge/RiftsWRX

Three days ago, I got my '04 USDM STi ProTuned by Jorge. Jorge is a great guy........professional, knowledgeable and patient with a curious customer. And I am very happy with the tune he performed on my car.

My mods include the Deadbolted TD05H-18G, Perrin TMIC and Modded Injectors, Walbro Fuel Pump, Cobb Uppipe, Catted Downpipe and Cat-Back.

I have not had the car dyno'd, but it spools quickly and pulls hard to redline. It makes about 19psi boost at about 3200-3300 rpm, and tapers to about 16 psi at redline. The car is very much quicker than stock, and much more fun to drive. Of high importance to me, none of the "drivability" manners of the car were lost. It still idles and cruises like stock, with none of the "quirks" I've seen on other non-stock STi's.

A street tuning session with Jorge is exciting and a bit overwhelming, and I cannot remember most of what he taught me. I do recall him explaining to me that the TD05 gas side turbine is a bit restrictive for the STi, and that if it was a TD06 instead, it might actually spool up a bit quicker.

In summary, Jorge is the best, I love my STi, the AccessPORT is an awesome EMS choice, and the TD05H-18G is a great choice for a daily driver and someone who likes to get to 60 (or even 100 mph) quickly, but it will not give you the power for 11 second quarter miles.

Thanks, Jorge..................Frank

Thanks for sharing that. I'll second Jorge as a professional tuner, he performed a street tune on my UTEC (stage 2+ TUNA) this spring.

I've been looking into getting a deadbolt turbo, and Jerry recommended the TD06H-18G for better response at all rpms. I just haven't pulled the trigger yet. The supporting fuel system mods are sitting in my garage (the spare set of injectors still need to be modified).

By the way, did you do the installation yourself? I assume you are in Chicago, I'm up in Lake County...

Datadatum: Yeah, I did the wrenching myself, and I live in DuPage county. Jorge is terrific, as is Jerry at Deadbolt. I bought the TD05H-18G about a year ago, when less was known. Today, I'd go with the TD06H-18G. If you want a really quick street car, with great manners, I'm sure that you'd be happy with that choice.

Ninjaboy76: That's right, no chart or numbers. I will have them eventually, and post them then.

I thought that I HAD posted in the correct forum, thank-you very much.

It is still not clear to me that you moving my post to "Review STi Tuners" was the correect thing to do, especially when a post like this ........ Got 'ProTUNE'd at Agile Automotive in MD ........ remains where I had put mine originally.

I still feel that I posted appropriately, since I was not so much reviewing the Tuner, as I was sharing my experience with Engine Managment for the rest of the forum. Still, as a "Super Moderator", I guess that the decision (right or wrong) is yours.

Talking Riftswrx

Well, all I have to say about him is, HE IS AWESOME! I have had him tune my wrx 2 or 3 times, and my STi 3 time. All but the last time were with a UTEC. I upgraded to an AP. OH MY GOSH. the last tune I had on the STi was on a dyno, and the road tune he did on my AP, before we got crappy winter gas, was awesome + no need for a retune for winter gas

If you are in the midwest (chicago - he has also been known to travel to areas where demand is highenough), and are looking to get an ap pro tune or utec, or something else, (not including ecuteck) Jorge (riftswrx) is your man.

Ok, I'll bite on this one.

You've had a total of 6 custom tunes. Let's assume a lowball figure of $300 for each tune. That's $1800 in tuning. To me that is insanity (although very good for Jorge). Moral of the story - if any of you guys contemplate having your car (or cars) tuned several times .... ... .. . learn to do it yourself. You'll save tons of money. In this case - $1800+ in savings. That is A LOT of money. FP20G + injectors.

I should point out that in no way is this post negative toward Jorge. I've seen several of his tunes and I like how he has progressed toward a safe tune ... especially with regard to Dynamic Advance. He does a nice job given his prices/fees.
