Default Another +1 for EQ Tuning

I met with the man, the myth, the legend Ed of EQ Tuning to finally get my 07 running the way the good lord intended. After doing a lot of research on local tuners I knew not choosing Ed would have been the wrong choice.

Prior to our appointment I sent many, many PMs about parts and set ups to get the most out of my Stage 2 tune. Despite the redundant questions Ed readily answered them all, even without having a commitment for a tune. After all the parts arrived and were installed we set our date and the tune commenced.

Ed spent a good 4+ hours tweaking my car from the jerky OTS map mess to the solid, responsive and smooth car I knew it could be. Oh, not only is it all those things, but its also pretty damn fast.

Ed speculated even with an OTS map the car was still knocking and not only really took his time to eliminate all knock, but even got rid of the shift knock that can plague other cars protuned on a dyno. As Ed said, he never lets a car go if it is knocking at all.

My experience was excellent, I left feeling confident in not only Ed's tune, but also my car. I can now get on it without the fear I'm damaging my own car simply by driving it the way it is meant to be (sometimes) driven. I would recommend Ed to anyone and I will be back to see him for all my future tuning needs.

Thanks Ed!

Awesome numbers ed just told me about them a day or so ago. I made 275hp and 307tq with ed tuning my car. Feels great after he gets through with it doesn't it? I agree nice to know your car is safe to drive.

Nice, we talked about your car too. The car is night and day, I really felt it once I got off the highway and into street traffic, 1st gear isn't akin to a limp handshake anymore! I can also deaccelerate in gear like a normal person without having my insides shaken by the jerky OTS map. Amazing, my car drives like a car should. The peace of mind is really the best part, I would have taken stock numbers for the peace of mind I now have thanks to Ed's tune.

Ed tuned the STI I own (was tuned when owned by the previous owner). Great tune and fast. Puts down 284whp / 304wtq. That's with a catted APS 3" TBE exhaust.

Sometime's I do notice a bit of jerkiness when I decelerate in gear though. Not sure if that's the tune or just the way the STI is?

Hey Jason,

Thanks for the nice review! I'm very happy you're enjoying your car as it should be enjoyed . Your car did take a bit longer to get dialed in properly but that's mainly because I'm using a completely new base ROM for 07's now that we got a couple issues resolved with Cobb. I'm very happy you noticed the improvements in drivability. I know its sometimes difficult to pay attention to that stuff during the tune. Enjoy and let me know if I can be of any assistance.

Thanks
-- Ed

There is always going to be a touch of jumpiness in these cars that comes mainly from the drivetrain. If you haven't driven a stock 07 STI, flash the stock map on it and drive around for a bit... then you'll see what jerkiness the other guys are talking about .

BTW, I'm not sure what gas you guys have up in Canada, so it might be a good idea for you to get the tune looked at on your gas. The tune on that car was for California gas specifically and will not necessarily work properly on other fuel.

Thanks

Well that's good to know that the stock STI is a little jerky. I am not worried about this car being slightly jerky if that's the case. It's only slightly noticeable anyways.

As far as the Canadian gas, from what I've heard and read, it's very much similar to Cali gas. Not the best in the world by any stretch but it does the trick. Nonetheless the car runs very strong. When I get a chance I will bring my car to a local tuner to have them take a look at the tune just to make sure.

I actually have a few questions regarding the latest firmware updates that were done on the AP that you put the tune on ED. Unfortunately Sean said he didnt know too much about it, and that I should be asking you. I'll send you an email about it later.
