| Lurker | I'm getting ready to put a clutch and flywheel in my car and didn't really want to take it to a dealership, but unfortunately, that's the only thing I've been able to find around here. I live in Hinton, WV. I'm more than willing to drive a few hours to get it done right. Any recommendations? Closest place I've found so far is Mach V, but even that is 5-6 hours away (at least that's my guess). This ad is not endorsed by this member. Please register or login to hide this ad. |

| Spec C Club | i looked on google maps and can't think of a shop that is close to you. machv is in the process of moving out of the shop they are in. the company they were sharing business space with filed chapter 7. they prolly won't be doing installs for quite some time, if at all. |

Giles County to be exact. I would say your best bet may be in Concord, NC just north of Charlotte. It's called 3SX Performance. They do a lot of work on Mitsu 3000GTs and Dodge Stealths. Their wrx and evo website is wrxevolution.com. Not much love for subies around here. I was living in CT so I've gone to XX Tuning previously. Great shop they run there |

| Lurker | I haven't really done much of anything to it yet. It's got an upgraded TMIC, an APS intake, and a WorxTuning BOV (I have to admit, I do like the sound.) Right now I need it to stay reliable until the Supra gets done. I do some of the small stuff myself, but I really just don't have the time. Not everybody here has a lifted truck, but when it comes to sports cars, having something other than a Mustang is rare indeed. |

Why do you not want to take it to a dealer ? Are you going with a clutch that isn't OEM ? I don't know where you bought your Subie, but I bought mine from Hometown Subaru, and Ernie Davis is a great guy. They even installed my Prodrive RB320 suspension kit for me. What I'm saying is if you bought your car there, I wouldn't hesitate to ask them to install it. They have 2 techs there with about 60 combined years with Subies ! As far as MachV, I'm certain they've already moved ( about 5 miles down the road ). I haven't talked to Dan in a while, but I'm sure you could e-mail him to see if they're doing mechanical work or not. PS- It takes me 4 1/2 hours to get to MachV from Beckley (at 80mph ) |

| Lurker | Yeah, I pretty much never go with OEM unless there's nothing better out there. I always figured if you were gonna go through all the work and labor of putting something on or in your car, then you should make sure that it's the best you can get so that you won't have to redo it later. Actually, I bought my STi from myself. It was about two years ago now that I was working at the Ramey Dodge store in Princeton in sales and I saw the guy drive up in the STi so I went out and talked to him. To make a long story short, I sold him a new Dodge Ram (???) and bought his STi the next day. Actually, I called and got an estimate from Hometown as well. The only reason I feel uncomfortable at a dealership is because I worry about the part I bought actually being the part that gets installed on the car. I realize that it probably doesn't happen very often, I just want to be sure. A clutch and flywheel aren't things I can just peek at to see if that's what I ordered or not.
