Default Alternate tuner to TopSpeed

Without going into a lot of details, I'd like to find an alternate tuner to go to for my Protune....TopSpeed/ Doug and Co. may be great, but their customer service SUCKS!

I am willing to drive anywhere in the South East to get it done and done right....

Thanks!

Scott is at TOPSPEED now, and Scott is great. He is always super busy, but he makes you feel important.

Thanks, but I would like another Alternative to TopSpeed regardless of who is there now...I feel 4 chances are enough to email, or return a phone call...especially after talking to them once and them telling me the would send an email right afterwards...it's happened 3 times.

I'd rather spend my $4k somewhere else, unless someone knows how to get through to the people there that I really need to be talking to....Pretty frustrating...and I understand being busy, trust me.....I took my c6 to LG Motorsports in Dallas, (lou Gillotti, of world challenge and now ALMS fame) and they are always SLAMMED but they do what they say the will...and people have way more expensive cars and upgrades than the subie and evo guys for the most part...so that's my standard....

(ok, I'm done venting)

I got tuned at Topspeed and a while later did TGV deletes to get ready to put in my bigger turbo. I called many times and got many promises to disable my TGV codes on my protuned map that I e-mailed back to them (they lost mine from their files) and e-mailed the map to both the company and Dougs personal e-mail. Despite being told it would take about 2 minutes to do I gave up after almost 6 months. I also made sure they were aware I wanted to have them do my new tune. They refused to send me a limp to the dyno map even after I told them I would prepay for my tuning session. They told me they wouldn't do it because they wouldn't make any money form the instalation of my turbo and injectors. I refuse to pay someone to install anything that I can do easily in an afternoon so I bought a copy of Street Tuner and freed myself from having to deal with idiosyncratic tuners. Being in the military means I have an unpredictable schedule so putting in my own parts during my odd ball free time and doing tuning and data logging going to and from work is alot easier than trying to schedule a tuning session 3 months out and having to take leave to get it done.

To be honest, that is my biggest gripe...I can plan for SH*T as long as they don't call or reply to my simple emails and phone calls....it truly make me wonder about thier attention to detail and dedication to the consumer...(made even more insulting by the fact they tout their customer service as much as they do)

Wow... these stories are horrible. This is a problem with having Cobb AP... because of stupid 80 mile rule, you are mostly stuck with one tuner in the area regardless of them being good or bad.

See that's what I hate, I have a bad story for TopSpeed so far...but I hear a lot of really good stuff about two of the guys that tune for them. I kind of think that if you could get past the "front" end of the place and talk to who really matters my opinion would change quickly....I am not trying to flame them at all, but I feel I would being doing this community a disservice if I didn't add a constructive post about my problems with them....
...and if I hadn't been to three world class shops before (LG motorsports, Lingenfelter, and SCG), with WAY more work going on than they (TopSpeed) could imagine, it wouldn't be so bad...but I have, and that is the bar they are measured against, right or wrong.

I'd love for them to post up their opinion of themselves here...

Siegel is at Topspeed? Crap... I called and talked to Trey at Topspeed about doing an EWG setup on my VF39 and he acted like he didn't want to do it. I don't care if he WANTs to do it or not, its whether he WANTs to take my money for it, because until this point, I have been happy with my Topspeed experience even though Doug was over an hour late to my appointment and *I* was the one that had to drive 6 hours out of my way and pay for a hotel room. I was hoping that Siegel was still out and about, I am sure he wouldn't mind making some money off of a tune. I need to be retuned for my header and inlet I know, and thought it would be a good chance to do an EWG setup while I'm at it.

I have no experience with Topspeed. I met Doug in person at a meet, and he seemed nice. However, Scott Siegel has very good customer service, and I am sure if you go directly to him, and email or call him he will take good care of you. He is a very good tuner and I highly reccomend him. Go to his website.. Siegel Racing: Home You can get his contact info there and his email.

or you could always do something like a wireless tune
example: Ed @ EQ Tuning. He sends you a base map. You datalog and send it to him. He sends you a new map, and you continue until you are both happy.

He has done everything (with great, reliable results) from tuning a stock car to a full on axxis stage II block with a gt35r.

He's very active on wrxfanatics.com, but not so much here. Definitely worth checking him out though.

Jesse

p.s. from what i hear, he has great customer service

Check the time between my last post and this one....that's how little time it took for scott to email me back! I have a phone call scheduled with him tomorrow...
