Default How to remove the spoiler above the windshield on the 06/07 STis

Is there anyway to cleanly remove this?

It's there for a reason. Aerodynamics, to keep downforce on the rear spoiler. I would NOT remove it.

Yes, but you will have to have a body shop fill in the two holes on each side.

Well I wont have the trunk spoiler on either, so I kinda want the other one to go too

I've removed mine (and ended up putting it back on for the time being) its very simple:

Use a phillips head screw driver (and probably a flat head to help pry it out) to remove the plastic fastener on the back of the end pieces.

get a finger nail between the cover and the bracket and pull it towards you just a little bit till it's just a bit looser, dont try to pop it off just yet.

once theres a bit of a gap between the cover and the bracket, start pulling/pushing it up and towards the rear of the car, approximately parrallel with the leading edge of the cover. There are two pins on the inside that are pointed in the opposite direction, so if you pull towards the side of the car you'll either have no success, or you'll break these pins. they're pretty beefy though, so don't worry too much about snapping them off.

once the cover is off, remove the bolts holding the bracket to the C-Pillar.

once you've removed the bolts holding it to the car from both sides, it will still be held on by some double sided sticky foam stuff. the way I got through this was by lifting up on the bracket and cutting at the foam with a serated pocket knife, it will gradually loosen and become easier as you go. note that there's a little alignment pin that sticks into the C-pillar, so dont try to cut through that. the sticky foam is stretchy enough that once youve cut some of it, the bracket will pull up more.

after that youre done, just pull it off.

Some things I noticed after I had it off:
There's 3 holes on each side, not 2. one is for the alignment pin I mentioned in the last step
The holes in the outside panel for the bolts are about 1-1 1/2" in diameter, and theres a big lump that comes up from inside the pillar that is actually where the bolts thread. These lumps stick out above the c-pillar.
To remove the vane and make it clean, you'll have to grind down the lumps and then fill the 3 large holes and paint.

That's the way to do it ^^^

Do not try to remove it by breaking the back window and prying the wing with a screwdriver like the little hoodlum vandals that were after mine.

no problemo. I know my instructions were long, but its really easy once you start. I just tend to ramble.

now you just have to promise to post up pics once youre completely wingless and sleeper.

Ok, so now for you that have read this, are any of you looking to sell your roof vane?
I'm looking for a WRB or unpainted on.
