I don't have a specific diagram to show you but the install is very easy and straight forward. You are going to have to take the dash out piece by piece but its really only 3-4 panels that you either take off or just move of the way. You are going to start with the shifter panel... the '05 STis just pop right up with a quick tug. Undo the leather shift boot with the button under the knob and pull it off. You can just place it over to the side. At this point I believe you will find some screws that will need to be taken out... don't remember how many. Once you get the visible screws out you can tug on it to pop it off its holding tabs. The next step is the radio... you have to remove it to get to the screws that allow you access to get to the vent area (don't unplug the headunit... just rest it a bit lower than its harness). I can't remember exactly how to remove the switch but I think it was just a quick tug/push and than you have to disconnect the harness from it. Plug in the JDM switch and put everything back together. Sorry I can't be more specific... it was a while ago. Good luck! Others please chime in if you have a better memory than myself. I believe it was about 7 screws all together.. or something to that effect.

I think you might also be able to change it by just popping up the clock pod but I was too worried about breaking one of the tabs. The other way works, it just takes a few minutes.

for the trim, i use a screw driver with a little electric tape on the tip so it wont scratch anything and pry it. i think theres two clips that old it in... one on each side

Default Re: hazard button install?

Just did this install myself via the posted walk-through.... Thanks a ton, very helpful.... 2 bolts to loosen HVAC controls, 6 in the head unit, 3 (different size) screws holding the vents in... simply push the tab on top of the old hazard button down and pop out the front of the vents, slide new one in and reverse process....
A little warning though, keep a towel or something to use as a separator / cover with you, i layed the head unit onto the shifter trim / cig lighter cover and aux port etc.... it left a few scratches :/ but oh well
Also *the head unit DOESNT need to be removed to remove the 3 screws holding in the vents.... its a pretty tight fit for a screw driver, but if u take some precautions like wrapping the shaft of the driver in electrical tape or something so it wont scratch the head unit, your in business

Anyway, thanks for the post, took me a while to find it, but i did, worked like a charm, she lights up and everything
