Default Turbo Inlet Hose Clamp??

I'm doing a samco inlet tube this weekend and I was just looking at the hoses. There are the 2 types that I am familiar with; the screw tighten and the kind you open with a pair of plyers. But there is a 3rd type I've never seen before. It looks like the clipping part is some kind of butterfly-ish clip. It looks like you could pop it off using a straight edge screwdriver, but I'm not sure how you'd get it back on. Should I plan on replacing these with the typical screw tight type or can someone explain these to me, please.

Thanks
Chris

I dont know how to really explain them over the e-net. But you can get them off with pliers.

I reused mine for the stock look.

If you can get "t-bolts" aka "v-band clamps" use them.

If not replace with standard clamps "screw-tighten" from your local auto parts store.

T-bolts and v-band clamps are two totally different things. What you should get is t-bolt clamps. Here is the link from the other thread:

Your right!

v-band clamps, have a V shape around the band for specific flanges.

I'm used to calling all clamps with that type bolt. "v-bands" Airplane talk...

I'm old!

I hear you there. I see them every day on the C-130's that I work.

OK, so I'm holding off on doing this upgrade now because it looks like the manifold needs to be removed to get the OEM unit out and to put this one on.

I am pretty sure that noone has had to remove the intake manifold to install a Samco or any other silicon turbo inlet pipe.

I haven't found any install instructions for the Samco piece (or the Perrin, which is similar), but everyone that's done one has such horror stories. Has anyone gotten thier OEM unit off without destroying it?

I've always taken the manifold out. With that said...

You can do the install without taking the manifold out. This is going to be more a PITA when you have almost no room to stick your hands into the different areas to manipulate the different hoses.

To give yourself some room. Remove the TMIC. Remove the short inlet hose from the airbox.

Disconnect all of those hoses in the front of the manifold. Next to the inlet hose. Sometimes, I use a numbering system to label everything with a red Sharpie. (Male-Female) This helps the first time around.

Get a service manual. The pictures can help a lot sometimes. PM me if you don't have one.

Give yourself plenty of time. Do this job on a weekend or day off.
