Back in the day we would just go into the woods and scrape the leaves back and pour it on the ground & then cover it back with the leaves. Worked great. But then this silly "tree hugger" movement took place and so now we have to sneak out in the dark of night like a common criminal to dispose the stuff...actually I take it to autozone....now.......

My dad says he pours his along the edge of his house to prevent termites......hmmmm.....think it will ever get into the groundwater?

Does this really belong in the "How to Install" section?

Put it in the empty oil qt's and throw them out on a back road, or dig a two foot hole at lest and bury them, Or you can just go to your local dump or landfill place they should have the provisions for your problem

It's part of the oil change process so I think it fits...

and my, it's amazing how much we've learned about what is good or bad for ourselves and the environment since the dark ages of industrialization.

Hopefully, all you guys that are talking about dumping this in the ground, etc are kidding. If you don't want to make a special trip just to get rid of the oil, save it in a milk jug until you go to buy more oil. Take in the old stuff for recycling then.

By law any store that sells motor oil MUST take it back when used. (Like pop cans). Any autoparts store will have a big steel tank in back for you to dump it in. Usually about 4 foot cubed. A trunk comes by every month or whatever and pumps it out.

I saved up some empty liquid laundry detergent jugs. They hold like 6-7 quarts each. When I have 5 or so of them full I take them over to the autoparts store along some latex gloves, so I don't get a mess on my hands I can't wash off.

Many stores will want you to fill out one line on a clipboard stating what type of oil you are returning and how many quarts.

I have all my oil saved up in a big iron pot on my roof just waiting to be used to ward off any invaders who may try to attack my castle...
