Default Torque Specs thread

Well since I don't have the service manual, I'm always searching for torque specs... so I thought I would start a thread where people can post their torque spec requests and others can respond.

I'll start it off.

1. Rear caliper bolts for 05 STI.
2. Front lower strut bolt (the one that blocks the upper front caliper bolt from coming out).

It appears to be 47.9 ft/lbs for the caliper bolts and 129 ft/lbs for the front lower strut bolt.

They are all supposed to be 28 ftlbs, and some people have recommended an even 30 ftlbs, but you know what, I tried 28, 30, and 35... and I would recommend 35... the reason being, if u do 30, it MAY come loose and u have to retorque... I actually had a DP nut come off when I torqued to 30ftlbs... not good... and some of those bolts cannot be accesed without other stuff coming out... so just do 35... contrary to what some have said, it is NOT too tight and will NOT cause a leak because it's 5 ftlbs tighter. Do it in stages... I recommend 20, 25, 30, 35.

A lot of the bolts require an extension to get to, so 35 is more like 33 anyways... if you use the same extension to the bolts that don't need it, it will give you the most even torque. I recommend using the same extension for each "batch" of bolts that connect the same 2 parts.

Rears are 140 ft lbs I believe while the fronts are 129.

Actually...the rears are 145 ft lbs...but my response was for the fronts as that was what the OP was asking about.

Any suggestion on torque specs for camber plates?? Like RCE plates for example?? I was going to use the stock top hat torque specs but will that work for the two bolts used for adjusting the camber??

haha... well, some guy on here torqued them to like 70 ftlb which is almost TRIPLE the spec... lol... the most important thing is to make it EVEN among the bolts... whether it's 30, 35, or lol 70.

Anorexic, I'm moving this to the requests section for now. If you want it to gain full "howto" status, you need to update the first post with all the information that has been submitted.

Default Re: Torque Specs thread

Anybody got the torque specs for the rear diff front mount points and the rear diff case bolts? I'm mounting the prodrive diff cover and have no idea what the correct specs are. Thanks
