2 jackstands is enough. lift up the back and do it, or if you have 4, lift the whole car onto jackstands.

Jack + jackstands or a set of ramps.

yea a set of 4 jack stands will do. Did my whole turbo back with just jack stands and a jack. it should be enough space with 4-5 clicks on the jack stands

It was a squeeze, but I used the jack that comes with the car and just lifted it from the rear driver tire. It got a little tight when trying to connect it to the downpipe so I lowered the back and moved the jack to the front.
I did this because I don`t have jack stands or a real jack ;(

jackstands = $16.99/pair at kragen or something

drive up ramps = $39.99 generally

if you dont have a jack get a ramp

hydraulic floor jack = $180

I got my jackstands with a floor jack at sears for like 80 bucks because it was a package deal. def. might be easier with ramps though, it was tight under there, but doable.

***except in my case where i clocked myself in the head with a socket wrench tonight and had to get 3 stitches...but then i came home and finished my install!

I do not mean to hijack the thread but, in similar topic. How hard and how long it takes to DIY Install an APS 3" TBE on an 06 STI? I have 2 ramps and 2 jackstands. Also what tools I must have for this. Thanks.

Man stock jack. Isn't that dangerous? The jack could give god for bid. Am I wrong, or do most people not trust being under the car without at least two jackstands?

I did it with just my shop jack and some ramps. It was hella easy.

I use ramps in the front and stands in the back. Pull the car up on ramps, jack it up by the rear diff and put the stands in the factory locations in the back. I have pictures in my journal of some protectors I use on the stands and jack to prevent damage to the diff and side skirts.
