Default replacing exaust gaskets....

Just as the title says, i am alittle worried about braking bolts, as i have broke many in the past, but my car is fairly new with less miles.....should i play it safe and use a torch or will PB blast or liquid wrench be fine?im replacing the up-pipe to turbo gasket and the headers to engine head gaskets.....any input will be good, thanks ahead of time

Definately use PB Blaster and spray it on the bolts the night before, althought the bottle says you need to only do it 30 minutes before. Otherwise, it shouldn't be that bad, you may need a breaker bar though.

A bit of PB Blaster and some elbow grease were all I needed.

If the bolt is seized, no amount of PB blaster, WD-40, or coca cola (yes, the acid in that stuff not only breaks rust, it melts away your teeth! ) will prevent the bolt from being broken. I've never had to use something as strong as PB blaster... WD-40 should be fine... if it will come loose, it will come loose... I had a seized downpipe bolt with only 20,000 kms on the car... had to keep "twisting it" until it finally sheared... I just used a 14mm bolt temporarily and then replaced it from genuinesubaruparts.com... it's about $6 for the bolt and $1 for the nuts... I bought like 5 of the nuts just to have some on hand... once u get the bolts loose for the first time, it shouldn't be a problem in the future if you apply some grease to the threads. If u do break a bolt, make sure u don't use a replacement bolt at the uppipe to manifold connection... that seems to be a weakpoint for leaks since htere is only 2 bolts... u also need to remove the O2 sensor to get at one of the bolts... use one from the downpipe to turbo temporarily... and then replace that one later (much easier to replace).

I Have Been Using Pb Blast On All My Cars For The Past 2 Years And Its Worked Every Once In A While. You Just Have To Let It Sit A While. Wd-40 Sux On Exhuast Parts!!
