Red face I'm retarded..installing a stud

Hey guys, I feel stupid but I'm stuck on this. Got a APS TBE used and the cast stud needed to be replaced, got the old one out but how do I get the new one in? I threaded the nut all the way down and then tightend the stud, but now I can't get the nut off with out the stud turning!

Any tips for a retard would be great Thanks

Both the nut and stud are brand new, its just that I screwed it all way to the bottom (where the threads stop) and then used that stop to screw the stud in tight. But I can't hold the stud with enough force to allow me to back the nut off that spot where the threads ended.

I have no idea what the stud is, where it's located, accessibility, etc. but can you double nut it? That may allow you the ability to maintain enough resistance on the stud to get the other nut free.

Same thing happened to me with the APS uppipe!

I used visegrips + CLOTH , although it did mess up the threads alittle, but it was all ok...

I have the same exhaust. I double nut it to put the stud in. Just thread one nut on, then tighten another nut on top of that one. Use two box end wrenches to get the nuts tight. Then just crank the duble nut and stud combo into the casting until it is all the way in. Now use the two box end wrenches to loosten the double nut to get them off. Depending on the size of the second nut, you might need a very thin box end wrench.
