Default Turbo Install

Can anyone help me with a turbo install. I am going to a 20g so its not rotated or anything. Is it too hard and should I have it porfessionally installed, or is it fairly self explanatory. Thanks.

I'm interested in this as well. It is probably time consuming, however, my concern is "priming" oil to the turbo. I'm debating whether doing this myself, or just paying a tuner to do it.

FYI, I've never seen a writeup on this.

Okay Here it goes:

1.Remove the center exhaust pipe
2. Seperate the turbo joint pipe from turbo charger
3. Disconnect the engine coolant hose which is connected to coolant filter tank
4. Loosen clamp that secures turbo to intake duct
5. Remove bolt which secures the bracket oil pipe to the turbo
6. Remove the oil pipe from turbo
7. Disconnect the engine coolant hose
8. Remove Turbo bracket
9. Disconnect the oil outlet hose from pipe
10. take out the turbo

and installation is the same thing just backwards.

put up your email and ill send you a PDF if you want.

No one has address priming the turbo. The best way to do this is to remove the passenger side door trim that goes up to the dash and disconnect two green connectors located under the cover. This will shut off the fuel pump. Then disconnect the #11 fuse. Then crank over the motor for about 30 seconds. This will prime the turbo.

I don't see how a tuner can do it any better.. Yes they may have done it 20+ times... but just because they have done it more times doesn't Necessarly mean it's better:
IE: We can pay someone to install a suspension and TBE... BUT if you are mechanicly inclined you can save yourself HUNDREDS of dollars buy doing it yourself..
I learned this lesson when I had my wrx and I paid the shop $600 to install, TBE, uppipe, complete suspension, sway bar, and strut bars, shifter bushings... From that point on I try to install EVERYTHING on the car or get someone that did it before to "watch" over me/help me...

That's why we have these forums, it's all about the group learning/experiences :-)

I'm not knocking what your saying just giving my opinion from past experience.

I appreciate your input. Guys, working on a car is not rocket science. I find it fun and challenging to do these things myself. I think this is why alot of us are members here. Things will never go in as you plan them to. However, working through these installs help us to think outside the box. This is something we can use everyday in life too. Therefore, working on my car makes me smarter. Lol.
