Default How to replace BOV with stock by pass

I would like to replace the BOV on my STI with the stock By Pass Valve. The prevoius owner had installed it on my car, but after doing some research on this forum I came to the conclussion that BOV is NOT a good thing for the STI.

So, I already bought a stock blow of valve, but I wonder if I need anything else to bring my car to stock (on this issue only!!). Any tips for the installation, including pics, will be very appreciated.

Thanks

The one I have installed is a forge BOV.

I bought this stock BPV from Velocity Factor. But I dont understand where to connect the big hole on the front. The back one is clear that goes to the mount on the front of the intercooler, and the small out put, I assume goes connected to the same hose that is connected to the FORGE valve...but where do I connect the big output in the front(pls, see pic on the link below).

Thanks a lot for your help

you're missing an elbow that goes on that hole in the front.

There are some good pics of the BPV in this tutorial Intercooler removal / Throttle body hose install though it doesn't say much about the BPV. The outlet you are asking about connects to a tube that runs (I believe) back into the manifold. The tube should have a plug in the top of it (mine did) to cap it off for the BOV. All I did was remove the clamp on the tube so I could uncap it, insert the BPV "exhaust" into the tube and reclamp it. Everything else was pretty straight forward.

Oh and you will probably need to unbolt the intercooler so you can push it back to get to the "exhaust" port. I had to.

Yup, theres this elbow that is connected to the BPV that connects to the Bypass Hose (or something?). Basically to take the sucker off all you need to do is disconnect the vacuum line, unbolt the 2 bolts, and then open up the hose clamp on the bypass hose. Now, if your BOV throws the surge into the air, then it may have a cap in that bypass hose. Therefore, take that cap off, connect the elbow part in there and secure it with the hose clamp, screw in the 2 bolts, and connect the vacuum line and Viola...your done!

Thanks a lot. This was exactly what I needed to know/see. Looking forward to get rid of the "sucker"

one more thing make sure the vaccum hose is the same size as the original bpv.. cuz some aftermarket blow off valves convert the vaccume hose to a diff size.. and.. for the recirc hose its under the bov and most likely has a plug in it..
