Default Stock Bypass Valve Reinstall??

Ok so I bought an 04 STI about 3 months ago and it had a Greddy Type RS BOV on it which makes it run like <explitive deleted> so I finally found a stock BPV on ebay. Now that I have it, I'm not quite sure how to put it on. I see the stock vaccum tubing is still in place, but the air return tube that mounts underneath it has some sort of cap on it. I haven't had time to really look at the setup and this is just what I've observed from a quick glance. Any tips/instructions on how to strap my BPV on??

Thanks

uncap your stock return hose. That hose connects to the 'exhaust' side of the BPV. Its a very straight-forward swap, and shouldn't take more than 30 minutes even if you've never done it before.

The Greddy RS bov may come with its own metal tubing for a recirculation line (I believe its the greddy that does this). If this is the case, you may have to either go buy hosing to fit the tubing to your recirculation valve or re-purchase the stock recirculation line (rubber) or find one from an aftermarket company as I believe there are a couple companies that sell this (samco, perrin, etc). Hope this helps!!

Edit: **Image borrowed from JSCSpeed

That metal tube is what I am talkin about needing to be replaced if its on there (or you could possibly rig up some hosing to fit the stock recirc valve).

No, from looking at pics of other sti's bpv it looks like i still have the stock tubing and its certainly not the metal tubing. I get the bpv today and I can test to see if the tubing fits, if not I'll probably head over to the suby dealership and see what they can get me.

Thanks for the help guys

Cool, if you have the factory recirculation line, then its as simple as popping out the cap on the recirculation line, undoing a vacuum line, and 2 bolts holding the bov in. It should make more sense when you get the item in let us know how it goes!

Everything went smoothly, but I had to dismount the intercooler and scoot it over a little to get the BPV in the exhaust hose. Other than that everything was super easy.

The car runs ssoooooo much better now; the difference in the smoothness of the shifts and in the idle is incredible.

Thanks guys.

check under and left of the BOV.. there should be a rubber hose about an inch and a half thick.. and it should be plugged up by some kind of stopper.. just remove the clamp, take the stopper out.. and plug and play
