Default D/P install

Ok. the engine mods finally begin.Got a used cobb catted D/P. Now for the install question.I've searched around on here and a few other sites and can't seem to get a sinlge answer, do you have to remove the stock top mount intercooler to change out the pipe? I saw some do-it-yourself spots and some say to remove it and some don't. I know I should just stick my head under the hodd and see if I can tell, but it's like a million degrees in New York today.Depending on the answer, I'll do if the i/c stays in place. If it has to be reomoved I'll shop out the install to a local shop. I know that the i/c isn't a big deal to remove, I just don't feel comfortable with doing that my self. There's just to many little things to screw up with all the hose's going back in.Thanks all, can't wait to feel what so many are allready experiecing with the D/P and eventualy some tuning via an A/P.

Removing the intercooler will make it MUCH easier.

It makeslife alot easier to take the I/C off but it is not a must. There are two main hoses that are attachd to the intercooler. The throttle body hose and the turbo to intercooler hose the black lines that are attached to the interccoler can stay attached. Trust me the intercooler is the least of your worries when changing out the down pipe, the down pipe bolts can be qute a pain the first time you take them off.

I did mine without removing the IC. I didn't think it was all that bad.

I agree. As long as you have a decent set of tools that has different size wrenches its not that bad.

I didn't remove the I/C when I did mine either. The one thing I did do was buy 2 10 inch socket extensions and a swivel adapter. Made things so much easier. I had expected the dp install to be a real PITA with all the broken stud horror stories out there, but honestly it was fairly easy, even without taking the I/C off.

I didn't remove my I/C either. I don't see how it would have helped that much. At least not on my 06.

Default thanks all

My thanks to all who replied. Looks like if and when this brutal weather breaks in the N.E. I'll tackle this. The D/P is just sitting there and I can't bear the thought of trying the install when the temp outside is hovering around 99 degrees with 60%humiditity.I think I'm going with the I/C in place wish me luck

I had to take mine off because of a bolt/nut wouldn't come off, started to crossthread as taking it off. It sucked big time, wasted 3 hours trying to get it off.

I took mine off...it only took an extra 10 minutes and gave me a lot more room to work. Also it gave me a chance to put the wife to work picking the bugs out of the intercooler...
