yeh im running stock airbox without silencer too.. ive been thru 1 cai and 1 SR.. both of which were TOP OF THE LINE...

and im sure as many of you know.. stock airbox is still better..

anyways no plugging of holes.. and if water goes high enuf to get into your intake.. your whole block would be submersed... in which case your screwed over anyways

edit : cai's that go down to fenderwell.. just dont do it.. sucks.. screws your a/f ratio, causes your throttle to flutter.. and does nothing positive at all.. and even that is hard to submerse in water.. u need like a foot deep puddle or higher

ok so i just did this mod a few days ago, i ran the car with just the snorkel after removing the silencer. then i ran it with the snorkel sawed off to make an elbow...umm yea i haven't really noticed any differences. i kno there isnt supposed to be much of any performance gain but no difference in sound either. maybe im just def. either way it gave me a chance to mess with the car for a little while haha. my .02

There is definately a sound difference with no elbow or anything at all, but once you put the peice you cut up back in, it sounds stock.

there isnt much of a sound difference.. but a little whoosh as u get the boost in there.. theres usually an audible difference when u pass 0.5 bar... other than that.. if your looking for a big sound difference.. u need an aftermarket intake

Has anyone experienced a decrease in power after removing the silencer?

I didn't even do any modding to my airbox. All I did was literally drop the k&n filter in, and drive and I get that "wooshing" sound like I did the snorkel mod.

I like. And I actually think I am getting better gas milage out of it too. Last time I filled up, I was getting just under 20mpg. And that is with spirited driving here and there on that tank of gas.

Just my .02 centavos.

That's weird. You still got the swoosh sound with the silencer in? How much was the filter?

$53 and change from autozone. They have to special order and it should only take 2 days.

Unless the previous owner did the mod, I have a stock air box. I tried checking to see if the mod was done and from what I understand, it was NOT done.

I'm happy as it is.
