Default How do I: Install the O2 wire for an AFR gauge?

I picked up a boost gauge and have that hooked up all well and done, but I also picked up a narrowband AFR to fill in the extra spot of my pod (the AFR was inexpensive). I'll pick up the real deal wideband if I decide to go in and start dealing with the engine, but this is just something cheap and easy to fill a void.

In any case, where do I find the wires for the O2 sensor to tap into, and which ones do I tap into?

Thanks,
Chris

Tap into the Blue wire, its the +signal wire. The two black wires are for the heater and the one white wire it the signals ground.

Cool.

Next round of questions:
1) Do I tap the rear or front O2? This sensor reads from 0-1 volt
2) Where is the best place to actually tap the sensor? Back at the sensor itself or somewhere near the ECU?
3) If I tap the sensor, will it draw too much current, volts, wattage (not sure on electrical terminology) away from the sensor and change the readings that the ECU is seeing, therefore changing the programming (ECU add/remove fuel/timing)?

Help on any of the questions is appreciated.

Chris

Tap the front sensor on your uppipe since the rear one is pretty much useless and does nothing but verify there are two different mixtures to make sure your cat is working. Tapping into it will not do anything to effect the ecu, it is not drawing power from it but senseing it. I would tap it at the sensor since that can always be replaced cheaper than a harness, make sure you dont use one of the cheap plastic tap connectors b/c it is very hot near the uppipe and that will probably melt. Also make sure your use some heat shrink there to protect it from water and heat.

Great info. One last question:

Is the front O2 sensor a 1 or 5 volt sensor?

Thanks,
Chris

what isnt working? the gauge itself or the reading, make sure your ground and power are connected and making a solid connection, that was my problem hooking them up...make sure you have the power to the gauge and its grounded before vconnecting the reading part by seeing if its lighting up when your ign and lights are on...after thats a yes, then connect it
