Default how to install a steering pump

I was wondering how hard it was to replace a blown steering pump? I searched but couldnt find any write ups on it.

Default Re: how to install a steering pump

its pretty easy. Basically you remove the belt and then the lines from the pump. It will probably get a little messy try not to get the fluid on any of the belts or pulleys. Then remove the bolts holding the pump bracket to the block. I believe there's one in the back and two in the front under the pulley, not sure. You should then be able to remove the pump.

Then remove the bracket from the old pump and put it on the new one.
Install in reverse order.

Fill the reservoir with some more fluid. Then after you've put the belts and lines back on crank the car and turn the wheel all the way to the right. It will moan for a little while then turn the wheel back and forth it will make noise at first checking the fluid here and there to make sure you have enough.

After sawing at the wheel for a while the moaning should go away. Take it for a drive and turn the wheel back and forth a little more. Et voila.
