I just bought the lamin-x tail light smoked lens kit, and i am having some issues picturing how to install the tint flush mount and have it go around the circular buldge on the tail light without creasing it or messing it up. Anyone know what i am referring to help would be GREATLY APPRECIATED since they were 60 dollars shipped and that could be a quick expensive mistake : (. I already got a spray bottle with a little of soap and water in it just like applying vinyl.

it is a royal P.I.T.A. to do that buddy, but I think its worth it. Fortunatley I have an 06 with no bulge, but your blow dryer is your best friend. Heat the tint up and you will feel when its ready to mold with you. You need to stretch it and have patience overall. As long as you keep the material clean and warm, you will not ruin it if you have to do it several times.

The worst part about that tint is most places wont do it. I called every single tint shop within 30 miles and no one would take the job. I'm not a handy person by any means and I got them on pretty decently. Just take your time and do it right.

ugh..... i tried to do the tint and it turned out horribly. I ended up just peeling it off and throwing it away because it was ugly and bubbled

i think im just going to have a tint shop do this *or try to find one since they seem to be shunning the idea of installing someone elses tint*

use the soapy water and a credit car wrapped in microfiber cloth. keep workin it hahaha, with a heatgun.

Use your woman's hairdryer (or purchase one from your nearest walmart for <$15). Go ahead and get a 6 pack because you will need some patience for your first time.

Essentially, it just takes time and willpower. You will get it right, do not be afraid to apply heat and work with it!

Sorry to hear yours ended up balled up. The 04/05 Taillight Kits we produce are significantly harder than both the 02/03's and the 06/07's, but are doable. (we also have an option that leaves the round uncovered - ironically done a while back for an iwsti customer). For the 04/05's we do include kit specific supplemental though. There are a variety of materials and approaches for smoking your tails and it is important to follow the directions included by the manufacturer as following the directions for one product but using another may make things harder / impossible. Eg. trying to apply out 04/05 taillight kit with a soapy solution would make the install exponentially harder, if possible at all. Szumita, our kits (that require a squeegee) include a squeegee - a real one, the same one we use in our DIY Tutuorials

Thanks for the great advice, i ended up paying a shop 50 dollars to do it (other shops wouldnt do it because they were afraid they would mess up) and this shop did a horrible job, melted the tint a little bit , got tons of bubbles (but out of sight) and lots of creases underneath the bubble on the tail light. But i half expected them to have trouble with it; it took them 1 and a half days L O L so i kind of felt bad for them and didnt ask for my money back, because they were out 10 hours of work, and i felt like they deserved it heres how it came out.. (sorry the cars a dity *****)


ps ignore the wheels i spent a whole bunch of time making them perfect then i forgot i needed new tires so the tire shop had some fun with their crowbars and my painted wheels.
