It's a special badge that you buy, they aren't painted.

Kinda like this

SUBARU WRX RX STI 01-06 BADGE EMBLEM LOGO PINK FORESTER - eBay (item 250222089589 end time Mar-06-08 14:59:02 PST)

Uhhh no. You really can take them apart and paint the inside any color you want. The how to is on NASIOC IIRC.

How To: Paint your 06-07 Impreza/Forester/Legacy Emblems - Interior & Exterior Modification - NASIOC

It looks like the pics got deleted from the how to, but here it is. It sounds really easy....

Maybe if you do it, you could take pics. And then put your own how to on here so we have one.

It is super easy. Get the emblem off of the car. split the top starts part from the backing. Use a fine sandpaper to sand off the blue paint. Dont go too deep or you will get the stars as well. Clean it up with some finer sandpaper and alcohol. Paint away.. any color you want.

You will also need some 3m double sided tape to put them back together and put the back emblem on the trunk again. It lines up easily with the wholes in the 06/07s

I did both my front and back before I swapped trunks.

Before stock blue

After CGM - pre trunk swap

Before stock blue with center pillar

After black with no center pillar

The factory double sided tape is holding it on. The CGM emblem is CGM touch up paint.

It was so hard to get the plastic piece off the chrome housing...I chipped both pieces. I think you have to heat the emblem up really good so that the factory double-sided tape gets really loose and you can peel it off easily.

After that all you do is take a little thinner and rub off all the paint that's on the inside of the plastic piece.

Sand the plastic piece with really fine sanding paper so your paint will stick. Paint the color of your choice and yo are done.

I'll post pix after everything is complete.
