Yeah, the old concept showcar had a wicked looking hood, buit this new one is very meh. It has 2 vents all the way to the back of the hood, but what bugs me is no hoodscoop, not even a nominal one. all the prior years WRC cars had the scoop, even when they didnt need it

well, they have the intake under the scoop.
and the vent in the front for the radiator/intercooler.

even if they go without a scoop, i can only see benefits to aff the big huge vent for the radiator and intercooler in the hood.

unless they changed the whole layout under the hood too

any spy shots of the engine bay?

Thumbs up Subaru Impreza WRC2008 Debut!

Take a look at the next car Subaru will use to attempt to dominate the world (rally).

Subaru releases Impreza WRC2008 ahead of launch at Acropolis rally - Autoblog
World Rally Championship - News - New Subaru confirmed for Acropolis

It looks pretty freakin sweet, if you ask me. It also has no hoodscoop, which leads to the question, "Where is the intercooler?" I wonder how this will impact the aftermarket options of relocating the intercooler?

The WRC Impreza has used a V-mount FMIC for years (maybe since the beginning, though I've not looked back to verify that). The WRC car isn't really an Impreza anyway, so it doesn't impact parts availability for the street car. Group-N cars are a different story.

That's a great looking rally monster. So euro compared to the past styles, hense the reason I waited for this model. I cant wait to see it in action with the rest of the Subaru team, like Pastrana jumping it in the X-Games!

I totally like it's subtle look. Yeah, we do miss the Notorious subaru "swoosh" decal/painting but if the car is a different beast and will start to win rallies then I think we can all agree on the change.

Oh, interesting. Did some reading on what a v-mount FMIC is... pretty cool!! Kind of makes me wonder why they don't come like that in the first place, it seems to be a better choice in all respects (low speed cooling improves, long distance driving cooling improves). Though I would guess there is less radiator protection in a crash... but still, sounds really cool!!

They seem amazingly expensive though... RallySportDirect.com - Power Enterprise WRX / STI V-Mount Intercooler
