greysave - when companies ship items they dont end up in this condition when the person recieving it gets the package. ive ordered hundreds of things online before from companies and it always comes in a neatly taped, properly protected box. i have yet to see a package arrive in the condition it did when maverick took those pictures. it looks like someone threw a grenade in the box along with the turbo. just fess up to a careless packaging job and make things right with maverick.

I'd have to agree.
Usually both parties have a different side of the story...
However, after seeing these pictures...I'd have to say that the box looks like a bigger cereal box HAHAHAHA
I've sold many things on ebay and in here and I wrap the CRAP out of all my items before being shipped.... I put myself in the shoes of the person that is opening it and therefore I pack it tight and SEALED.
Consequently, those LABELS show the true side of what happened, look at that man, RECEIVED DEFECTIVE and OPENED ITEM?
WTH is this? it's a TURBO, it is heavy and unless packed properly it will be damaged.
Graysave Do whatever you want, but I believe the community is with maverick with this one so do what's right =0

if its an 800 dollar turbo, since we all know turbos are composed of 3 main pieces, perhaps consider taking the compressor and turbine sides off and wrapping/packing them seperately from the center section/compressor and turbine wheels? otherwise put it in a larger box that is reinforced and HEAVILY padded.

greysave - you already said numerous times that it is a big and heavy turbo, why not listen to yourself and figure out that its going to break through a thin cardboard box with lax packaging?

I just saw this thread and have NO clue why in the hell anyone would ship anything that costs this much and not use insurance. Seriously, how much more is it? I had to send out a VF39 that had shot bearings, sold it for $90 shipped and I put insurance on the thing myself, noone asked for it. WHY? Because the turbo has sharp edges and weighs alot. Meaning that thin cardboard might not be strong enough, even with wrapping/corn/bubble wrap in it. Let this be a lesson to all, INSURE!!!!!!!

Isn't the answer to your question obvious? He didn't insure it to make more money/save money. It probably would have cost him another $10-$15. That's a big amount buddy!

the sti community is a pretty closeknit community - no reason to cause drama when none is needed... file the claim and call it a day!
I retract my last post...

Maverick and whoever else got screwed by greysave, I don't like taking side nor am I quick to make any judgment on issues that I may not know all the facts. However, it is clear that greysave isn't willing to work with maverick and other "victims" to resolve the situation... It seems that the only way to get thing done is to take him to court!

Well I have never received a package from the post office in that type of shape. The turbo should have been wrapped in a lot of bubble wrap, peanuts in the box, turbo placed in, and more peanuts to completely encase the turbo. Seems there was too much empty space in the box giving the box no support to hold its ground and allowing the box to get smashed in. Seems the turbo could have been mangled prior to ever seeing that box...

So much for a first post eh... lol

masta - not only that but the box itself is too thin.

i wouldnt ship a concrete block in that box for fear of it breaking.

True, true...it's obvious the seller is a for being a who probably sold a previously mangled turbo. So for that I think he needs to get the by a judge in civil claims court.

Ok that's enough funnies for tonight...I'm off to bed.

One thing that greysave has yet to comprehend, is that shipping insurance is to protect *HIM*, not the buyer. He is liable until the buyer recieves the item. It is not the buyer's responsibility to insure proper packaging, insurance, etc. He paid for a product, and it's the shipper's responsibility to get the buyer what he paid for, not a couple broken chunks of metal. Civil suits will do wonders for you Maverick. Recoup your losses, and teach greysave how to conduct business or put him out of it. Good luck, bro.

My advice would be to ship with a shipping company and never with the USPS. USPS is a government controlled company that is trying its best to catch up to LARGE companies like FedEx and UPS. Those companies are huge, they are not even classified as regualr businesses, they are Airlines!

I use to be a package handler for FedEx and I can tell you I could care less about box A or box B, my job was to move packages quickly and stuff them into a giant plexiglass box like I was playing tetris, even got a bonus once for getting a good tight stack. Packages were often dropped, and often smashed... thats why when I ship things I put insane amounts of packaging, cushion, and tape. I can only imagine how bad the USPS does.

We made more then someone working at McDonalds, but we didnt have the customer in our face watching us spit in the food...

As you already should have been... I think the "spit in the food" was the wrong analogy, more like "The customer was not there to see you drop his food on the floor". I wouldn't say we purposely broke peoples stuff, just the nature of the job... Ohh and the packages move down conveyor belts with turns and such... some packages would get stuck in the edges or smashed when the belt was packed too tight, a high power belt can do way more damage then I ever could have hoped to do..
