As far as I'm concerned, it isn't your fault that the package wasn't insured. He is responsible for getting the turbo to you undamaged, as you purchased an undamaged turbo and that is the product you are expecting. If I received a turbo that was damaged even if it was insured I'd expect my money back immediately and for the shipper to have to deal with the hassle of getting their money back via the shipping company.

You said he's in GA? Where exactly?

But seriously, $30 to ship a turbo? I would have forked over much more to ensure that the thing was packed properly (you know, peanuts are expensive )

So yea, he is without a doubt to blame as well as USPS. If it was shipped via USPS you are automatically insured up to $500-, so you may want to check into that. After you see what they will give you, hit Grey up for the balance. Thats how I would play it.

I agree with you with everything other than being USPS's fault... if you ship a piece glass cup/plate and only put in some peanuts and it breaks that's not USPS's fault it's the fault of the person that did a crappy ass job of packaging it..etc.. Things are going to move when they are being shipped/trucked across states..etc I think the seller in this case is an idiot for doing such a horrible job at packaging a turbo.... how hard is it to wrapp something in bubble wrap, tape it, get an approate size box, fill that with peanuts and then make sure it the contents inside aren't flopping about when you shake the box side to side...

I sell a TON of stuff on ebay and I problably ship out 10 things a week...not ONCE have I ever had anything damage by USPS...

I hope you get your money back bro! If nothing else just keep pestering/calling/writing emails/letters..etc...
$800 is a lot of money to me, and I take it, it is to you as well.. don't rest till you get your money back!!!!

:-)

I feel bad for you and I do think the seller should have packaged the turbo better, however unfortunatly this is the kind of thing that happens when you buy candy from a stranger across the internet.

Good luck in getting your money back.

if he doesnt respond. or is being just uncooperative. file a small claims court suit. that should get his attention and hopefully resolve the conflict

Ever wonder why an insurance claim is paid to the SHIPPER and not the receiver? It's the shipper who takes the liability of what's being shipped in addition to the company being used. Just send it back and dispute the charge with your bank/creditcard issuer and not paypal. When this happened to me with paypal, I used the guys paypal info and email to get his name, address, phone#, social security #, DOB, then crossed the names of his mother/father/brothers, and gave the info to his local police(after calling him, his family and neighbors to really bring home the point I wasn't going down without a fight). They where nice enough to go to his place and get him to log into his bank and paypal account to verify my story before "strongly" encouraging him to to the right thing. If you are this pissed off man, show it by going for the throat.

Yes and no. I have going on 1,100 posts and no one has mentioned my name on there - doesn't mean I'm a bad seller either. Regardless - good luck to you man, hope you get it sorted out to your satisfaction.

well to cover most of those posts....he lives in Albany GA and the store he shipped it from is Urban Styles. He was a cool guy before the shipment (responded to my e-mails, and after he wanted to have it fixed) Its when I went through paypal to get my money back was when he was rude he called me a b*tch...i paid 800 for a broken turbo and hes calling me a *****. Well Im bringing the turbo to Precision Turbo in West Bab on Long Island their really good so hopefully he can determine the damage. I sent him one last pleading e-mail last week still no word back, after the news from precision there might not be anymore e-mails...

just to help, i bought a clutch that was used on ebay and was said to be in good condition when i got it I was told by a mechanic that it was no good. so i had him do a write up and i sent it to paypal via email and they gave me 100% of my money back so if it says good condition in his emails to you then you will win if you talk to them.
