IWSTI Addict since: Nov 2006 | You heard right! After using this vehicle to get the fitment sorted out for the newer Subarus, it was finally time to get it on the dyno. In short, I am very impressed with the results, both on pump gas and on E85. This turbo is a big step up from the 30R with very minimal losses in spool up time. For the amount of modifications done to this car I believe these are great results. The motor is completely stock, and I didn't really want to push it any more than I already had (plus it is out of injector). When the car is cruising around in 'S' mode it makes about 470whp, but a change to 'S#' kicks it up the numbers below. The whole mod list: AMS Subaru STI 750R Turbo Kit. AMS 2008 Subaru Front Mount intercooler kit with 3.0" piping Blow-thru MAF Detschwerks Subaru top feed 1000cc injectors Walbro Inline Fuel Pump 255 lph TGV deletes MadDad Catback exhaust Grimmspeed ported header Grimmspeed BCS E85, 31psi 93oct, 21 psi -Chris |

IWSTI Addict since: Sep 2004 | When I go rotated it will be with AMS! I figured I would be running the 30r but I may have to reconcider that. I would have to run coswoths pistons and cams and a little head work. 31 psi on stock block running e85! |

IWSTI Addict since: May 2009 | Sweet amount of power there ESPECIALLY after noticing rpm for peak tq, spool is damn quick Any Worries bringing a stock block to 31 PSI about ovaling the cylinders, not about detonation using E85 but actually making cylinders out of round with such high pressures??????????????????? I know as a tuner you want to make as much power as possible without detonation but what about the thought of the longevity of this specific block or was this a one time thing to show what the turbo can do??? |

IWSTI Addict since: Sep 2004 | I wonder what the numbers would look like with ported heads and some cams. I think that would really make this turbo sing. |

| Professional STI Driver Feedback Score: 0 reviews | This is my ride. I affectionately refer to it as "The SleepMonster" I just picked it up on Tuesday after a very long six months (was deployed to Iraq for most of it). Had to drive home on the pump gas tune though. 1000 miles and very very smooth. I expressed my worries about the boost/power as well. Obviously if I push 520 at 30psi all the time the motor will probably not last very long. Chris said the tune is safe despite maxing out the injectors in S#, in S they're at about 90%(470whp) supposedly. The killer to our cars is detonation and the motor should hold up for now, but depending on who you ask 530+ hp (depending on dyno) can split the cylinders. This car pulls like a cruise missle on 93 octane , I'm almost afraid to drive it on E85 . Unfortunately I have to get tuned on 91 octane and for here at high elevation since as soon as I start getting into boost I get knock . I'll post up those numbers as soon as I have them. I'm sure they'll be much lower since I'm at 6500 feet on 91 octane and on a really low reading Dyno Dynamics. Here's a couple more pics. The pictures don't do the fabrication and parts quality justice, it's simply amazing to behold in person. I plan on a vendor/tuner review soon as well as starting a journal. Bottom line the AMS crew is top notch and they don't just build awesome EVO's, they make BAD *** SUBIES too. Thanks again to Dan, Evo, Chris, and all the rest of the AMS crew for all the hard work. i wouldn't worry about ovaling cylinders so much. My biggest concern would be the pistons. Russ is well aware this is pushing the limits. Running at this power level every once and a while should be just fine. Running it at the track or drag strip over and over might not be a good idea. Then again some stock Sti motors will surprise you. We had a customer here who was trying to blow up his stock block. The car made over 500whp but his wife wouldnt let him build the motor until the stock one blew up. The only problems he ever had was the fact that it would push coolant now and then. He ended up just telling his wife the motor was toast, in all reality it was just his clutch. | |
