IWSTI Addict since: Oct 2008 | I've seen a lot of people making big power on E85. I just have a few questions about it. What kind of afr's do you see with E85? Do you use an O2 sensor for gasoline or alcohol? And how much more injector do you need with E85 vs. gasoline? Were those 1000cc injectors maxed out? (i.e. over 85%) Thanks AMS. |

| Professional STI Driver Feedback Score: 0 reviews | Just an update. I just got retuned by Adam at Revolutions Performance here in Colorado Springs (6500ft elevation) for the crap 91 octane and higher altitude. Made 323whp on their heartbreaker dyno, max boost around 43-4400rpm. Spool is generally slower and power can be a bit lower at this elevation because of the thinner air so keep that in mind. It equates to about 400whp on most Dynojets (stock STI puts down about 210whp on their Dyno Dynamics). When everything's considered it did about the same as the AMS tune just a bit safer for here. IWSTI Addict since: Sep 2004 | This makes me want to max out my credit card! I would go with the 30r and keep my top mount. I know AMS is working on an intake manifold and cant wait for pics and dyno graphs. Imagine what headwork, cams and their intake manifold would do with their rotated kit. maby its time to max out the credit card after all |

IWSTI Addict since: Apr 2008 | Looks really nice STIdad! I have a number of questions: What a/r is your kit? Is that coating on the turbo and downpipe in the picture? Could you please post additional pictures of the FMIC with other angles? Is your kit catted or catless? Do you think that additional heat wrap is needed on the wiring etc around the turbo? 38mm or 44mm wastegate? Other thoughts on the kit prospective buyers should be aware of? Thanks for posting up your results and the cruise missile verbiage! |

| Professional STI Driver Feedback Score: 0 reviews | Thanks CiscoPowered, To answer your questions: What a/r is your kit? .63 Is that coating on the turbo and downpipe in the picture? Swaintech coated uppipe, downpipe, and turbine housing Could you please post additional pictures of the FMIC with other angles? Here's another one, not great but for starters It'll have to do. I'll try to get some good ones up soon (I really need to start a journal). Is your kit catted or catless? Catted Do you think that additional heat wrap is needed on the wiring etc around the turbo? Additional to what's there now?...probably wouldn't hurt, but I trust that the AMS guys did what was necessary. I haven't noticed any exceptional heat radiating off the turbo (the coating helps I'm sure). 38mm or 44mm wastegate? 38mm Tial MVS with SuperTrapp 3" disk muffler welded on the dumptube(custom fabbed by AMS) works great at keeping the noise down btw. Other thoughts on the kit prospective buyers should be aware of? I hope to get a vendor/tuner review written up before too long, but here's the BLUF (bottom line up front): I believe that the fit and finish of this kit is outstanding. I showed it to my local tuner and he seemed to think it was put together pretty well. He did question the use of hose clamps as opposed to T-bolt clamps on the intercooler piping, but that's an easy fix, and AMS addressed that in a NASIOC thread (search for AMS FMIC and I'm sure you'll find it) basically saying it wasn't a big issue and if T-bolt clamps are overtightened they can crush the piping... whatever. My local tuner (and I the first time I saw it) also felt the MAF sensor seemed mounted a bit close to a bend in the piping, but it tuned just fine, probably because it's a consistent 3" on the cold side; the AMS guys obviously knew what they were doing . The only other minor issue I have with the kit is that they don't provide a 2.25" up-pipe to header gasket (which is the up-pipe inside diameter), instead they use a stock or 2" gasket. Hopefully they get one procured soon so that potential step can be removed. FWIW my Grimmspeed PnP mainfold couldn't be ported more than 2" anyway. The 750R turbo is hard for me to compare. My pump gas numbers are a little bit lower than I expected considering this turbo is larger than a GT3076R, but then again it is a turbo that supposedly "wakes up" at higher boost pressures, and that seems to be confirmed by the 31psi E85 dyno plot. It also maintains boost all the way to redline and thus has nearly no horsepower dropoff in the upper rpm range just like most of the larger turbo offerings. Perhaps AMS can chime in and give some additional thoughts on how this turbo flows and compares to others. Overall spool isn't bad, and it pulls all the way to redline and wants to keep going, going, going...makes me really wish I had a motor with an 8500rpm redline...lol The car is plenty fast, and I haven't even run the E85 tune...yet... Ultimately AMS products are well known for quality, and you can see it in my build. I don't think you could go wrong with their kit, especially with that indestructable cast up-pipe and the V-bands for nearly everything. Thanks for posting up your results and the cruise missile verbiage! Your very welcome! Cheers, Russ |
