91 OCT map
This was part of my build plan to max out the stock turbo using the HFS-6 aquamist kit. The kit came a bit late, and I missed my window at HB Speed, so I have a couple of weeks with this setup untill I get the meth kit in place. There is no baseline dyno because I was previously tuned at a different (unknamed) shop, and the tune knocked so bad that I basically couldn't go more than about 7lbs boost. The tune went awesome last night, but I am having the dreaded ABS/DCCD issues this morning....

Edit**
DCCD fixed- it was just an ABS wheel speed sensor that was disconnected. 2 minutes, $0.

***UPDATE***

man i shed a little tear each time I see a stock turbo dyno with a 40-50 hp drop from peak to redline. I really wish subaru had a better designed head/motor/turbo that made decent power to fuel cut from the factory.

Nice #'s though 21 psi on craptaine (91) seems a bit high, i guess the car liked it there though.

yeah, the VF39 is like an ADD kid with a gallon of Kool-aid in him- like a bat out a hell at first, then comatose. That's what the HFS-6 kit is for on the 12th of this month...
As far as 91 octane goes, judging by how much oil the A/O separator eliminated from the intake, there is some real room for improving the actual octane in the combustion chamber by eliminating the oil.

How do you know how much oil is being removed from the intake?

Any review of the A/O separator?

tbh they are running higher than average boost (21 psi) and the hp tapers off pretty large as boost drops to 14psi post 6,000 rpms.

the large HP number is a result of parts and boost, as you can see once boost falls hp follows suit.

at fuel cut they are making roughly 280 hp which is about what other stage 2 sti's make at that rpm.

I see that It's very hard to push that much boost with the vfxx on 91octane and keep the knock sensor happy. It's very hard to tune on 91oct in general. 91oct and ignition timing are worst enemies.

Agreed. Nothing against the car or the tune, but 335 on a stock turbo with those mods is much higher than average.

So tell us, how does the car feel to drive?

^^BWAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
Oh, God...
(nintey-nine is just a fine, nintey-nine is just a fine...)
Yes sir, I like it.
the HFS-6 meth kit is going on in a couple weeks, and that should help keep the boost up closer to redline.
As far as oil in the intake, I did a before/after check on the intake manifold, and it makes a big difference. I was actually really supprised because the IM had more oil in it than I anticipated based on what was in the IC- that little overflow line blowing oil straight into the TB is the stupidest thing man... I just deleted the PCV similar to what Crawford recommends (here is the thread IXIZ air/oil separator installed: Short review, pics, and question...).

I want to give a big thanks again to Jon and the crew at HB Speed- they really run a class act. Jon even put up with me when I called and *****ed about my ABS problem this morning! (a connector had come loose, and I thought the car may have got twanged on the dyno) He was professional, and told me no way. He was right, I learned, and the car is happy again.
IF YOU ARE IN SOCAL, GO TO THIS SHOP.
Will update after I get meth on it.
Now, I need suspension upgrades...
