Default 2006- STi 311.9HP 377.9TQ and STg2 Compar.

Numbers
Dyno: DynoJet
Tuner: John(me ) Precision Tuning
Wheel HP: Meth-311.9 COBBstg2-268
Wheel TQ: Meth-377.9 COBBstg2-289
Ambient Temp: ~55
Elevation: ~SeaLevel

Car InfoYear: 2006 STI
Engine Management: Cobb V2 AP
Turbo: Stock
Intercooler: STOCK
Meth Kit: none 0.8mm JET: HFS-5 Aquamist
Injectors: STOCK
Intake/Inlet: STOCK
Headers: STOCK
Uppipe: STOCK
Downpipe: Cobb CATTED
CBE: STOCK
Other Power Mods: NONE

This car only has a Cobb downpipe, thats it. The Dyno chart shows a comparison between the Cobb OTS stg2 map versus the final Protune with meth. I find this interesting because it shows a more realistic view of how low/high our dyno reads. This is important because a customer came in with a 'stock' 06 STi and it supposedly ran 11.5 AFR's and 270+HP, trapping 104mph. That car had something going on with it, and is not a realistic number for a stock car. As we all know, stock STi's don't have 11.5 AFR's under boost.

If anyone wants to see it, I can attach a datalog from the run as well. As you will see, the Dyno boost is reading a tad high...approx .75psi high.(the stock MAP maxes out just over 22.4...

Thanks for looking.

John

This is my sti that your talking about....i believe the afr was acually closer to 12.0-12.5 under full boost. And once i saw that I asked Rich if that seemed pretty lean for a stock car and he said that thats normal for a stock car with all the cats. I also agree that most stock STIs wont put out 270 on your dyno but i bet most 04-06 put down 240-255 and Rich was even guessing before it went on the dyno that it would put down around 240+ (iirc). I just hate hearing people saying that your dyno reads low since a couple of 08s put down super low numbers and the 08s are known to be on the low side so theres no reason so say thats what most stock stis would put down on the dyno.

Either way a dyno is just a tool and i would love to see some of your stg2 customers run their cars at the track to see what these numbers will put down trap wise.
Keep up the good work

I trapped 108mph no FFS or LC. Bad 60ft of 1.81. I was spinning bad because it was opening night and track was not prepped at all. Bikes were having to wait to top of 2nd gear to hammer it or they would shoot right towards the wall. I was glad I was awd. I came close to best 60ft time of the night there. I usually get consistent 1.70 60ft. 108mph trap isn't too bad for a vf39 I think.
Also, in my thread, I show what my previous tune made there and what a retune with same setup made. Precision's dyno #'s were alittle lower than previous tuners Dynojet #'s by about 7whp but even lower tq wise. A dyno jet is only a tuning tool, correct.

FFS will affect your traps speeds ALOT on stg2 STIs. I dont keep the gas completly to the floor inbetween shifts but i do barely lift off and I can tell that it makes a BIG difference.
1)Is that what you do or do you completly get off the gas inbetween shifts?
2)What track did you go to?
3)This thread is about your car correct?

So I am confused did you put down 270WHP bone stock like you said or no? I agree a dynojet is a dynojet and it reads 15-20% higher then a Mustang but their dynojet isnt super high reading, because like I said before my 06 with STG2 protune, headers, 65mm CAI etc tec but down 288WHP / 306 TQ which is closer to a mustang dyno.. So it just seemed odd that your bone stock 06 put down 270WHP and I made 288WHP alot of mods you know.. But like you said its just a tool I agree 100%, and its cool to be able to post some numbers but I could careless as long as my car rips and is tuned right thats all I care about.. Which is why I use John, cant wait to see his work with my new DOM 3R and some METH... What trap speed you think I can put down with the DOM3 and Meth?

Yes my car put down 270 and ran a 13.3@104 w/ broken motor/pitch mounts when it was bone stock. And i never said that their dyno is super high reading but it is in NO way a low reading dynojet.....i put down 270 went 104 my buddys evo put down 310+ and went 109. Doent seem to read low, right?

I thought your car down put down over 310 once you put some bigger injectors in and the only reason you stopped at 288 was that you were running out of fuel? Dont forget some cars are stronger then others and numbers are just numbers....so run your car at the track to see how fast it really is.

W/ a dom3 and meth w/ jon tunning it i bet you trap 118+

I was looking at your AFRS and they were 12s' richening up to mid 11s'. I wonder why you are so 'sick' of hearing about our shops dyno? It is a tool, and numbers mean nothing, I agree. However, our dyno, does read on the 'low' side for a dyno jet. Your car is very unusual, never before...and never since, has a car 'stock' put those numbers down. As far as the AFRS', the cat can have an effect but usually the volume of air moved thru it is so great that we get a similar reading to pre cat flow.

I usually never get into debates like this over the forums, nothing good can come of it. I am sure I should just overlook this as well, as it is an opinion, and I am not here to tell anyone what to think. I will continue to tune, and try to provide this community with the best service and maintain an honest and objective opinion. I love doing this and I have been able to keep my career 'message board drama free' thus far, and I plan on keeping it that way. I will not be talking about this anymore. I wish you the best of luck with your car, and this is no way a shot at you personally.

I'am not sick of hearing about your dyno but i do hate hearing that stock stis put down 220ish....which i saw a couple customers say. I'am sorry if i offened you and i wasnt tring to come off like a dick but I do disagree about your dyno reading low compared to the traps speeds i posted. But this is just MY opinion.

So once again not trying to argue with you but I dont get your point So cause your car put down 270WHP on their dyno means what? That all stock STI are gonna put down that on their dyno cause I have seen stock STI's put down 230-250WHP on there dynojet thats why customers stated that... Since day one when you posted on my thread thats its not a low reading dyno cause you put down 270WHP Bone stock.. I just dont get why that matters..
