nah it wasnt too much power, we've achieved 540whp and 10.80's on a complete stock sti motor with bolt ons

my sti made 441whp as well and is still doing it months later

i was always a fan of 100% methanol but to each his own. im sorry it ended like this...but i guess its rebuild and get more power time.

Ill update friday on what happened. I agree it shouldnt have been too much power for stock block. We shall see. Hurts to lose the motor 2 weeks after a turbo job that took a month. No hate towards importimage, XX, or subaru, if you wanna play, you gotta pay. I hoped this wasnt going to happen, but I knew it was a possibility and took that risk. Nearly doubling the crank hp on a 4 cyl, ya know?

I hear ya, it does suck when you get your work done and just want to have fun with the car..Yeah so many variables with this dude... I mean it could've been anything. Just wondering how many miles on the car, and how did it happen like what was the situation I just read the part that said BOOM.. But like I said its not like you are pushing crazy power the stock block is very capable of the power you were pushing out.. So hopefully its not something major. Good luck

Sorry to hear the news man, but hopefully you get her back on the road soon. I know it sucks, but just remember she'll be a beast when you're done.

Yeah get a Aquamist or some other kit that has a fail safe and some type of monitoring device. For example, it could be a light that comes on when a nozzle is clogged or low on either meth or water. Also, when there is no pressure (in the case of a pump failure), the failsafe will automatically limit your turbo to wastegate boost pressure. I know with my Aquamist kit does this, not sure if his Coolingmist kit had it.

snow is coming out with a fail safe... i dont want to change my whole kit around.... i do have a low fluid light and light when pump is engaged.... i installed them by the clock.... red for low fluid and green for meth injection indication.... i believe if the pump isnt working that green light wont go on but im not sure..... anyone know this question? im assuming because the green light is only on when meth is being injected that if the pump isnt injecting then the light wont go on? im also thinking about getting the solenoid upgrade since my tank is rear mounted.... just dont know how hard it is to install?

It wasn't a meth failure. My meth doesnt spray till 9 psi, and I was boosting 0-2 psi, if that. Also, I have a flow indicator light, which wont come on if meth isn't flowing, and I keep a good eye on that. Im feeling a little better now that a day has passed. It was quite a hit. Now just want to know what the hell is up.

coolingmist definitely isn't known for pump failures.

I feel a little guilty, because i was telling you which mods to get etc. but with only 425 whp on setups we've done many times on a stock motor, i know there is more in it then just the parts i supplied

In talking with James, I don't think this was related to a Meth failure, I saw how paranoid he was about everything, and he doesn't seem the type to run the tank dry.. We will be talking more as the tear down progresses to see what exactly went wrong.. I'm very curious to know why this engine gave way.. I can count on one hand how many engines have gone on our tunes, so something happened, just gotta figure out what.

For starters, I would love to have him get rid of the Blow Through setup on this car, it's just not Stock ECU friendly and specifically setup for Speed Density style tuning, such as UTEC, but that is entirely up to him.

This is what concerns me, you were cruising when the motor let go? Have you kept an eye on your oil consumption? For a motor to let go under no load, there must have been a parts failure such as a timing belt.. I have seen the belts shred on the dyno, it's not pretty..

None the less, keep me in the loop, I PM'd you my cell number if you need any help.

Dude, no sense blaming yourself, seriously. I did my research, and A lot of people get away with a gt30 on a stock block, but some dont. AND its entirely possible the failure was unrelated.

Im kinda kicking myself in the ass, wishing I left it at the vf39, but **** it. I always wanted more power, and i never would have known if i didn't try.

Yeah, the blow through wasn't my choice, it was what came with the kit. It was a little difficult with the idling and daily driving.

Meth tank was full, and operating normally, I always watch for my light, and when I went WOT at an on ramp 3 hours before, it was on fine.

I was making a 5-6 hour trip, so I actually check my oil before i left and it was full.

There are 70k miles on the car, so who knows.

Pretty sure it isnt the timing belt, because the car would still run.

I had no intention of giving Importimage or RPM logics bad publicity, but I deffinitely appreciate both your help through these tough ass times.
