Mike,
I am not trying to be negative, but as members who have and are going through really big motor builds. I think it would be great to help out anyone looking to do a small or large build.

As far as Wayno, He can defiantly do a build for under 15k, or go our route and pass the 30k+.
-Is he going to run a small turbo or go big?
-Is he going to use it as a daily driver or track only?
-what are his needs?

The parts you listed seemed to be your car:
Quote:
Supporting parts:

As stated earlier:

Axles & 1/2 shafts($1,000+), suspension($3500 installed), wheels tires ($3000), cage ($2500+), big brakes ($2000), driveshaft ($700), hydra engine management($2000) Cobb AP2 for emmissions compliance ($500), HUGE i/c with piping CUSTOM I/C: ($1500+ more if you incorporate n2O to cool the I/C....), true 4 inch exhaust and custom 2 inch headers( $3-6000), tuning($1000), water and meth kit ($500), a REAL transmission AKA Dog Box ($12-15,000), gauges ($1000), race seats($1000), Harness ($250), misc parts ($2000), and additional instillation costs ($3-5000) = Ranges from $39,000 - $44,000++ in supporting parts, + engine costs of $30,000+ (complete engine; turbo, fuel system, plus cost of car $33,000

The costs differential between a 600 WHP car and one that is 1,000 WHP is astronomical! VERY few off the shelf parts go into a car like this!

When I am done with my car I will let you know what it cost me...... I know that my numbers are spot on.... and realistic.

Total man hours in my car for the current build will most likely be upwards of 200 hours. Expensive!

Mike

If that's not your build, my bad.....NO HARM NO FOUL.

As nice as it sounds to put that big turbo on, Its a little to large for what I need. I'm not drag racing, I still have a full interior, pick up my kids from school, daily driver..... ok not every day

I couldn't agree with your last statement more.

I just want to tell Rob sorry for getting your thread a little off track. Those are some really great #'s

J.

My initial comments to Wayno, were not ment to piss in his Cherrio's! He made a statement that he was spending $15K for his motor, ready to go!

I replied that this cost could be near double..... NO HARM NO FOUL.

I have never listed the parts going into my build...... I gave ideas as to what all the supporting components would add to the cost of a completed car, period!

I won't brag or bash to fellow list members, I am just giving my 2 cent's.

Please put the 42 R on your car and make 1000 WHP! It should be interesting! I hope you can!

I am trying to be a positive list member, and share my thoughts, ideas, experiences, etc.... To hopefully save others some of the headaches I have gone through with my builds! That beig said, it is unrealistic to have an extremely high HP car without all the other costs, or you will risk breaking unessassary parts, or risk causing harm to yourself or fellow racers with an unsafe car.

FYI, I researched the Cosworth 2.6L Stroker motor...for just about $15k, you get the entire long block with heads and everything ready to go. The power that motor will put out is more than enough for me, and saves me the headache of buying various parts, and having some shop do a build, and potentially risk a bad build etc. No way will that motor make 800whp IMO, spending more money to make that kinda power does seems to be expected to reach well over 15k, unless you bought all the parts at cost and did the build yourself.

Anyways, lets see some vids or something...............this is getting boring now!

Is there any reason why you won't post or respond, about these alledged video's... Or this fictional turbo that you cant talk about?

i always thought it was the stupidest thing to do for a company to brag about what they did but wont tell you about it or keep things secret? god numbers but crappy graph drag car or not. subaru's don't need 55psi to make that power when others are doing it with better spool up and 29psi....
