I don't think he was using it as a rule. Just an example. I think people are nitpicking his comment a little too much. His argument was that a dyno is a better comparison of 2 cars than a drag strip. I think that was lost after Inn-Tune picked apart what he initially said.

That said, comparing any two cars is kinda silly IMO. You never really get much good data. People should spend more time evaluating what their own car is doing and what they want from it to make their power decisions.

why don't we just agree that dyno results and time slips are both just reference points with all the variables that go along with them. they both have validity. when i post my dyno results i would love to be able to follow that up with a time slip.

I do agree comparing any two cars will never yield the same results. Too much good data is never a bad thing, that was the basis of my comment. Just from first hand experience, my06 "stage 2" only put down 251 whp and 263 wtq on a local dyno. Far from his "~300whp (+/- ~10whp)" . Of course I am only one car.

I understand that there are extremes on both ends of the spectrum.

All in all, using dyno numbers as Proven bragging is as good as we have right now for comparison.

Again, I believe the 300hp was simply an example. FWIW, 251 is ~ 16% below 300. Not a huge margin when you look at it that way. If we were nitpicking, I would say 280 +/- 20 would be pretty close. But I am not going to spend the time to back that up with imperical data.

I agree a 100% with the whole timeslips argument.

HOWEVER, this forum has like eleventy billion sub sections (which at times makes it confusing and annoying) but if you go to the sub section "STi Sanctioned Motorsports" then hit the sub section above it "Fastest Times" its where you will see 1/4 times as well as slips. Thats all under the General sub section btw. IMO, just turn that all into power bragging, the dyno sheets, tunes, 1/4 times, and discussing who tuned the car to make it run that 1/4 time. This section should be re-titled "Dyno Graphs" if anything. No one would have to read the rules and one would understand, "hey, i need a dyno graph, to post here."

True..............nitpicking. But if there wasn't, forums wouldn't be any fun.

So... If there is already a place to post timeslips, why do they need to be posted here? I gather the idea of this section is to TRY and be able to compare one another's setups based on some kind of common denominator. If timeslips were allowed as criteria to post in this section, it would defeat the purpose. Moreover if there is already another section where they belong, this would be repetitive. I could see the argument for being able to add a timeslip and time to ones power bragging post, but being that this is supposed to be based on dyno charts, that would just be extra info. Extra info is good, but for comparison you need a common denominator. And since timeslips change at the drop of a hat they hold little weight, IMO. That is totally above and beyond the fact that people are drag racing (a pointless sport, if it can be called that) a car that many would never consider putting on a strip.

I know that all dynos read different and even the same dyno will read different from one run to the next. I have already made the argument that trying to compare any 2 cars is silly. Maybe what I envision this section is supposed to be is completely off, but I think some of you are missing the point.

I rather see a trap speed then a dyno print out to be honest.

Why don't we just include both when available??? Dyno graph + drag slip would be a lot of good info to make comparisons from.
