by saying that they mean finishes that are not marred and scratched i think.

id start with the orange and ssr2 and see how it works.

I've been failing at savings and CC management lately.

My current budget is 6 months and I'll be clean of my CC debt, and that includes saving $$ for rainy day type stuff. Once the CC's are down I'll be starting an aggressive savings campaign using both excess savings from Abby and I. Should be good once I can get the ball rolling.

Ok.

Lacker, I know you said work the scratch out first... that's a good idea. I'm going to start with SSR2. If it doesn't have enough juice, I'll go up to 2.5 and 3, and then back down again... Once I get it finished, I'll do SSR2 on the whole car.

Sounds like a smart way of doing things. Mine is similar, though I only have the high-interest savings account, not the two savings accounts.

But- I have $X transferred out of my checking into my savings twice a month, forcing me to save.

I had to transfer $1500 out of the savings this month. Damn paint. I was fine with white walls, but I have to let the wife have some fun, since I have too much.

I have a simple bank policy:

1) 4 Credit cards (2 Chase, 2 Citi). I use one primarily (Chase freedom - 1-3% cash back), use one only for BP gas (5% cash back), and two older Citi cards are tied to paypal and to my cable bill (which I can't change the card for ).
2) Checking account
3) Savings account
4) High interest savings account

Get paid on the 15th and 30th. Transfer money for the mortgage electronically on the 30th from checking. Pay the credit cards and car payment between the 10th and 25th. If the credit bill is slightly higher than normal (like this month) transfer from savings to checking to pay off the bill in full. Once my savings is at a pre-determined limit, transfer any excess savings to a high-interest savings account.

Never carry a balance, and never buy anything I can't cover with cash.

This policy has been FTW for me.

nice, they are going to be here this weekend.

but I hate the local "rock scene" and I don't know enough people to get into the normal spots where you can enjoy the show with out getting pummled by some 350lb linebacker who just came to throw down.

either way.

It's all automatically transfered. It's simple. I don't EVER write a check.

Transfer to ING takes upto 3 days, so I have two savings accounts.

As a bank employee I get the "best" savings and checking as part of my benefits. I like being able to do instant transfers between checking and savings as needed to cover the bills... that way I can keep just a tiny amount (~$200) in checking and earn interest on the rest in savings, moving the money when I need it

It works. Car payment is auto-withdrawal as well, so all I really do is transfer money between the four.
