We've hit a few snags:

Bumper beam is MUCH LARGER than the Australian version. . . . sound familiar?

Even with that problem solved, the radiator included with the intercooler is just too big.

Time constraints. We're going to get the radiator mounted, and some water lines run, then get the car back in one piece so she can drive it. The air portion can be done any time after the water half is complete.

The theory behind her car possibly losing some HP is that it currently has NO intercooler. So the piping from intake-turbo-throttlebody is minimal. . . VERY minimal. The addition of an intercooler will allow her to add a MBC and up the boost to around 12psi, rather than the 8 or so her car currently runs, stock. Of course, she's going to wait until she can afford an aftermarket (she wants a CES) downpipe to minimize the bottlenecks in the exhaust. . . which should maximize the efficiency of the entire FI system.

More on all this when we get some more work done tomorrow.

Sounds like a direct bolt in to me JK Good luck with the rest of the install.

I see what your saying now with the HP loss, but even with running with a cooler charge of air coming in you think it will lose some? I would imagine some more lag too, hence the more piping you were saying compared to the little on the car now.

Thanks for the update, I cant wait to start working on mine........

The actual length of piping really doesn't change THAT much. . . I've been trying to describe to Laurel that the colder-charged air will offset any HP losses due to intake pipe length, anyway. At the least, this mod is more for peace of mind, anyway.

Thanks, Jeff! Well, I DID promise a detailed write-up on what I did to achieve the end results. Just need to go over my pictures and format everything.

And yes. . . I have been enjoying them:

(Leaving today's autocross to head to work. . . .)

I love those JDM fogs, can you put the stock foglamp cover that covers nothing over them?
Its just a point of curiosity, since there would be no real reason to do this.

Oh certainly! If I don't see the need to use them. . . say for most of the summer. . . I can swap out the covers in mere minutes. Also handy for further-protecting the lenses from debris when taking long trips, etc.
