Why earn 4% when you can invest in hedge funds and earn 10-20%? As a person who writes employment contracts for CEO's I know that the majority of the money they make is in stock grants and non-cash compensation. Headlines talk about the value of the compensation they receive as if it was cash because reporters are too stupid to go onto the SEC web site, look up the company's annual reports and find the financial section and see what and how a CEO earned what the papers say he earned. Either that or they know that portraying it as all cash will piss people off more and sell more papers. |
