Just about anything that's less than half an inch long will look pretty gross when magnified that much...hehe

I'm on Martha's Vineyard, an island off of Massachusetts.

As for the equipment:

Canon EOS 400D (XTI)
Canon 100mm f/2.8 macro lens
Canon 580EX flash with ghetto-rigged diffuser (paper towel and rubber band ...works better than anything you can buy for this purpose!)

I didn't bring my custom flash bracket or tripod so I was hand-holding the camera AND flash lol. I'd hold the camera and manually focus in my right hand and then hold the flash right above the front of the lens using my left hand. It's not the easiest task but it does work if you can manage it . Hand-holding at f/22 with about 4mm of focusing distance is always a fun challenge...

There are a TON of bugs here so I put one or two in a jar now and then and take pictures of them when I'm bored. There should be plenty more pics to come, I'm sure.

And to give you an idea of the size of these bugs, here's the best way to show you:

As you can see, the spider is only the size of a couple of dew drops (about 4 mm).

The pic of the spider isn't the best quality because I only got to take one picture. I didn't even notice the spider at first (I was just taking a pic of the web). Once I saw it and got even closer to take a pic of the spider it ran away. It was also in natural light (no flash) so it was pretty tricky.
