Default My first try at HDR

thoughts? c&c? How can I improve next time?

I tried to use AEB - I went to menu....and set it to two stops up and down....then hit set, and tried it out....but it would only take one picture with the original exposure, none over exposed or under exposed So I had to do these manually

It's called HDR - essentially you take a properly exposed image, an under exposed image, and an over exposed image and use a tone mapper in a special program (ie Photoshop or Photomatix) to blend them all together to create a picture with the perfect tones. I'm new to it, so mine didn't come out great, but I'm trying to practice. HDR = high dynamic range, google it and you can find tons of tutorials on it.

Unfortunately my 20d's tripod screw area is now stripped....as is the tripod mount, so I can't use my tripod until I fix this....no idea what I'm gonna do yet

What program are you using to merge the photos? Have you read the HDR blog posted on NASIOC?

I tried doing a HDR with Photoshop but it didn't turn out well.

good job, usually people come out with horrible flat photos with no contrast and think they are amazing. try using the rule of 3rds your composition will look better if the cars not in the middle all the time. And crop out a lot of the ground, too much neg space, unless its a curvy road leading you to the car

photoshop pretty much cant do it, downlad photomatix. its only like 30 bucks if you have a student email ending with Edu or findsomeone that has one to download it for you.

I like the look of HDR when done right and the 3rd image represents this. I don't care for those that look like your 1st image (where the side looks purple) and the 4th images (where it looks unnatural).

Your shots overall have a very nice look to them though, good job.
