My favorite car photo

I'm very much an amateur and photography is just a hobby for me. But my favorite photo I've taken of any car was actually of my old 2002 Hyundai Elantra. It was taken with a Canon A610 w/ a circular polarizer.

Here's the original...

And after post-processing...

I used the color balance feature in Photoshop to change the look of the photo a little. Then I used an unsharp mask to bring out the sky, and produce a very high-contrast look. Then I added a circular gradient layer on top with a color burn effect to darken the corners of the photo.

What do you think?

I need to put that effort into photographing the STI some time.

it would be cool if your subject was just the wheels but since it was supposed to be the car, you need more car. reposition yourself to get a good portion of the car and it will look much better.

The whole point of taking this photo was to show off the shine after I had detailed the car. I suppose that's no excuse though, if I wanted to show off the cleanliness I might as well find a way to photograph the whole car and still pick up lots of reflections. That makes sense.

my only problem is you're stating it is your favorite car photo yet I can't tell what kind of car it is...you had to state it in text to explain it, which is what your photo should do by itself

Thanks. You noticed that too, cool. They're all about the darkened corners. I'm guessing they're using a special camera filter to do that in their case. But it makes everything look dramatic. I may have gone a bit overboard on the effect, in fact.
