Default Tips for These Pics

I went to go take some pictures the other day, and I'm very pleased with the outcome; however, what do you think I can do to make them better? Angle? Position? etc... Thanks

BTW: I don't have a SLR It's a basic Digital Cam

I have a pretty good tripod, but I only use that indoors or at night time. Does it help during the day too?

My first suggestion would be to take them much closer to sunrise or sunset. These pix look like they were taken around 10am or 2pm. When the sun is that high your pix will lack dimension. I like the high angle but your wheels should be turned the other way so you catch a little of the gold on the wheel. Try some from "worm's eye" view. Nice ride.

Second shot looks good, but I agree with the above post that you should try turning the wheels right. A tripod will help any shot be sharper. Not that yours aren't, but you asked about it.

I will definitly use a tripod next time guys, so thanks for that tip. However, I just noticed the pics I posted are rather blurry, and it's odd b/c I'm using a 6.1mp digital cam and it's pretty sharp at that size. What I do is I use zoombrower ex to balance the contrast and etc, then I go to ms paint to shrink it, then I use photobucket to host it. Why are they coming out so blurry then? What do you do to post up some sharper images? Thanks in advance

your first image has too much going on. the background is too distracting and takes away from your subject. the second one is good but I agree with the wheels needing to be turned to the right.

as for what I quoted, a tripod will help any situation but Im guessing your blurryness is coming from the extra compression ms paint puts on the file (jpeg being resaved) then photobucket compressing it again to save bandwidth. I host my photos on my own webspace so I choose how i want the photo to look in a compressed state.

and don't be confused with 6.1mp and blurryness; these aren't synonymous.

Ditto. The composition of the first shot would be good if the backround was more basic. The buses completely kill it. Agree completely on the wheels in shot 2.

With that much light, you didn't really need a tripod. My biggest suggestion would be to find a better location next time. Those school buses/power lines/etc. are distracting. It's also better to shoot later in the day when the sun isn't so harsh. Shadows are evil!
