The funny thing is, even with "just" those light mods on your 9, the car will be damn quick.

Car looks sick, glad you got some pics up!

Sadly that will probably run 11's or low 12's with a flash and be as fast as your heavily modded STi.

That is a hot looking evo. I have always been fond of the evo and would have bought one had they not been made by Mitsubishi.

Its too bad about the STi getting methed up (hah, like a lisp, I am a cut up!). Good luck with the new car.

Sad to say, but I think the Evo in black looks better than your old STI. Nice car.

Thanks for all of the compliments guys. Its sad but true, those "light" mods will easily be good for high 11's. My friend with the SSL package hit 11.90 with TBE exhaust, MBC, tune, intake, and intercooler piping on race gas 91 octane mix. My car weighs less than his so we will have to see what happens. I must say there are times when I miss the STI, but I'm really enjoying the Evo IX. Theres no way I would have purchased an VIII. I'm not fond of the VIIIs.

Don't forget the cams. I have HKS 272/272 on my evo VIII, and highly recommend them.

Evo IX aftermarket cams haven't shown that much of a gain compared to stock cams.

Beautiful car and I am insanely jealous of your STOCK seats. Keep us updated.

My opinion:
2004 STI vs. 2006 Evo IX

The STI still has better low end torque, but the Evo mid range is very strong. The low end on the IX is much improved over the VIII with the addition of the Mivec. I like the stock ride height and the daily ride of the IX over my 04 STI. The 05 and up STI's have pretty similar ride characteristics, but I still can't get over the 4X4 look of the Subarus. I don't feel like I have to put springs on the evo to make it look better. My Evo has no rattles yet (knock on wood). My STI had more rattles than I could count...LOL! The Gauge cluster of the STI is far superior to the Evo's gauges. The interior of both is very similar overall. The seats in the evo are nice, but I don't like the fact that the seats don't adjust up and down. The shifting of the STI is smoother than the Evos. The Evo shifter is notchy to say the least. The handling hands down belongs to the Evo. It has a quicker steering. What's interesting though is the STI has a better turning radius. Overall both cars are a blast to own. I really don't think you can go wrong with either one.

Done anything to the IX yet? If not, I would suggest getting an eflash (M1)from jestr tuning ($52). The car is a totally different animal and low end grunt is much improved as well as high end all the way to about 7860rpm.

Great choice btw. I've got an 06 tarmac mr.

What kind of heat wrap did you use on your charge pipes on your old STi?

Your car is definitly sharp
It's funny how many Evo guys act like their car is so much better.. It's good to see someone like you who can give an honest opinion of both.

I drove an Evo 9 MR and it's definitly a great car, but nothing about it converted me, if you know what I mean..
I guess it just seemed a little too similar to my STi.
