No sir, the XTi is whats considered an entry level DSLR. A 20D or 5D are the canons top of the line cameras, in addition to costing about 4-5 times the price

actually you're wrong too...

Canon either did or will be releasing their EOS-1D Mark III, which is their top of the line camera. the 20d/30d isn't even double the price of the XTi (if you don't get uber discounts on them) and the 5d is about 4x the price but is full frame.

The MkIII won't be out for a few months still. And actually you're both wrong.

The 1D Mark III AND the 1Ds Mark II are both Canon's top of the line bodies. One is for sports photography, one is for product photography. Fast shutter speed vs. high resolution full frame sensor. 2 bodies built for completely different purposes and both at the top of their respective classes.

wrong again...

actually, the 300d is the top of the line camera. Canon has sold more of them than all of their other camera bodies combined. popular = top of the line. truth be told, canon cannot be beat.

on a serious note, the 1Ds Mark II isn't just for product photography, it and the 1D Mark II N and the 1D Mark II have all been used in sports shooting. one of the biggest reasons the 1D Mark III will be preferred for sports photography over the others is because of the increase in fps.

Top of the line means best available in the model range, not highest in sales numbers. And the 1Ds's primary role is indeed for product and model photography. In the pro sports photography world, speed and size of burst are king. The Mark II n (and now Mark 3) are top of the heap here and are considerably cheaper than the s to boot.

For those who like digital photography and haven't been to this website.

Rebel XTi review:

Forum that has a lot of great stuff; just SEARCH for it!

I too have a Rebel XTi, bought it the five days before Canon originally wanted them to be released in NY. I have upgraded to the EF-S 17-85mm lens and love every shot.

The only dslr's (that I know of) that have live LCD previewing are the Canon 20Da, and the soon-to-be Canon Mark III.
