Default My glamour shot driving the 997 GT3 in Excellence

I haven't received the magazine yet, but it's me on the top right here - and the blurry "action shot" on the last page of the article in the middle. Can't wait to get it in the mail - there's supposed to be a full-page version of the first pic. Woohoo!

Lucky SOB. That is my dream car. Make mine white. What were your impressions of such a machine?

I agree, the GT3 looks best in white. Yellow was nice, too

Here was the post I put up in OT about it - some extra pics there:

997 GT3 Press Car

My impression of the car was/is that it's VERY easy to drive. I hopped in, and within 3 or 4 shifts, I was right at home Compared to the STI, the clutch is relatively stiff (I smoked my clutch when I got back into the STI afterwards - embarrassing!) and the steering is direct and communicative. It feels more like you're driving a surgical instrument than a car. The sport chrono clock thing is neat, too. It has lap timing functions and some other cool stuff you can activate from the steering wheel. I didn't touch it. I was too focused on not crashing the only press GT3 in the country.

But by far the best part of the GT3 is the sound of the engine. Once you get past ~4k RPM, these little flaps open and the flat-6 is transformed - all of a sudden it sounds glorious and LOUD. My friend who wrote the article and took the pictures said that usually he has the driver honk as they're approaching the turn so he knows to get ready with the camera. With the GT3 = no need. I drove the same section of Highway 1 over and over as the sun set. If I wasn't forced to stop, I'd still be there right now It's like a Pavlovian response when you first hear the engine change notes - you want to keep stabbing the gas to hear it over and over.

The day before we went up highway 1, Johannes van Overbeek from Flying Lizard drove the car around Infineon. If you're a GT3 fan and didn't see it in the Video forum, it's worth a look (& listen):
