I have seen a couple of dogs out there, not good. everyone lived thats good.

Reminds me of an old GEICO commercial (insurance company) where this car runs off the road to avoid hitting a squarl. If it was me that dog would have been roadkill.

+1 better to need a front bumper than a totaled car, in my experience with hitting 3 deer in my old wrx it's best to just slam on the brakes and pray, its a 50/50 weather or not you're gonna hit it, in my case i hit all 3 but at least the car didn't get totaled and i got better paint on the front end, lots of people around here swerve to aviod deer and end up hitting telephone poles/guard rails/roll overs and end up getting hurt
