Default Canon A710 IS -- Good decision?

Well this is a little backwards but I just impulse-bought this camera from Newegg.com and now I want to know if I made a good decision.

http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/co...&modelid=14117

I was looking for a quality point & shoot camera. I almost bought the new Canon G7. But since the G7 was $200 more and didn't look to have the bang for the buck factor I was looking for, I opted for the lesser camera. And since I've been impressed with my brother's Canon A610, I figured I'd be happy with this camera.

I paid $310 for a combo package including the camera, 1GB SD card, and case. I also bought an extra 2GB SD card. I'll try and show off what it can do when I get it. Until then, do I dare ask if I made a mistake? Anyone else have this camera?

Thanks,
Steve

Well I got the camera this week. Here are a few shots I took today...

1.

2.

3.

4.

5.

These are post-processed as well. I either used Auto Levels, Auto Colors, or adjusted the Color Balance of each image, and I applied an Unsharp Mask.

And then there's the low-light macro shot (unprocessed and blurry)...

An uber-fast lens and bigger & better sensor would be nice, but I suppose I should only expect that from an SLR. And image stabilization is no super hero rescuing you from low light situations but it certainly helps. But so far I'm pretty happy with it for what I paid.

Very good choice! Canon's IS is very good, if not the best.

Kind of topic, but what are you dropped on? Oh and did you purposely keep the sticker on the sti badge on your lip?

Ohlins struts, RCE springs, RCE camber plates, and group n rear mounts.

As for the STI badge on the lip, I may remove it once it starts to bother me. I like to give these things time, lol.

I just took a couple new shots with what I learned over the week.

I tried the macro keyboard shot again with the same poor lighting, but this time with ISO 400 and F/2.8...

And here's a pic of my old piece of junk camera...

Ah ha, so there is. It actually looked OK with the blue film on there. It kinda matched the car. I peeled it a little bit though, might as well finish the job now.
