Default Photo day....1.8 50 mm prime lens

Did some tests today...tried out the 1.8 50mm lens...I think I'm going to buy it this month...you just can't beat it especially for the price.

Constructive criticism welcome....forget about suggesting anything about color as I am too color blind to have any idea what you are talking about

Nice pics! The "Thrifty Fifty" is one fantastic lens for the price and should be in every Canon DSLR owners bag. I've taken some fantastic photos with mine and it would still be my most used lens if I didn't have the 50 1.4.

Buy it immediately.

Just be careful.....the DOF at 1.8 is extremely shallow. Shots can sometimes be out of focus for the simple reason that slight body movement forward and backward after focus lock will move you out of the correct plane of focus. Stop it down a bit for car shots like the second one you posted. It will help keep the correct area in focus and make for a sharper image.

the 50 is a great lens for the money but I rarely break it out unless I need that extreme DOF. but I do agree that it belongs in every NIKON user's bag...

Actually, a CANON is what belongs in every Nikon users bag.
